Are you saying that scoutrush39 really doesn't exist
And that that wasn't really Radiation in that Youtube video

Glad I was able to hang around for a good chunk of the interview; it was fun. I was thinking I'd have to listen after the fact but it wouldn't have been the same without watching the chat as well.
No no it's still going!
EDIT: OK now it's done

Yeah that was pretty fun.
Particular parts being:
-when Plaz was introduced as the reincarnation of Jeremy Irons
-when NaS edited the RSS feed or something on the main page to trip people's update notifiers
-when I managed to get Bowman to sing that one song
-I don't know, a lot of other stuff I'm forgetting
-oh yeah and I got a chance to plug the remix list in there too when Bowman said that Ruins (With Strings) quotes Sburban Jungle at the end and he mentioned the list
'Twas his intent.
“Old Buggy Now” is probably the material closest to my efforts with my last album, Mobius Trip and Hadron Kaleido, and I chose it as an opening track partly because it serves as a decent link from my old material to my new material. It reflects upon much of the album in that it still uses a lot of electronic sounds, but it also moves into a more straight-forward rock sound relying on a more realistic drum sound rather than overtly synthesized dance beat.
I just bought Ithaca, but I can't listen to it... my girlfriend and I are pretty big fans, so we're going to listen to it together this weekend, for the first time. Also, HOW COULD I FORGET NO RELEASE? I LOVE THAT ONE!
Gah, I'm an aspiring musician who is alllll alone. I really kinda just want to talk to Bowman and ask, "What do I dooooo?"

Like you I am "alllll alone" in that I've produced most of my music entirely from the safety of my own home without any help barring the contributions of guests and collaborators via the web. So here's what I'd say you should do step by step:
1. Assess what kind of music you want to make
2. Get the music equipment you'll need (microphones, instruments, amplifiers, other gear)
3. Get something to record yourself a few times with (either a digital audio interface like FL Studio or ProTools etc)
4. Write and record some songs using whatever you have laying around and whatever ideas you have
5. Play, play, play with it in the production process until you have something that impresses you
6. Put it on Bandcamp and tell as many people as you can find to hear it
So far that has worked for me.

Yeah well it helps you're a friggin musical genius who oozes talent and charisma from every pore. :P
And just so this post is actually worth something: I just finally had enough money in the right place to pick up not only Itaca but Mobius Trip and Hadron Kaleido. If I wanted to squee about the latter, would that go here or over in the Homestuck discussion thread, or both places?
Basically - this is the Bowman adoration thread - does that include Bowman's work inside homestuck as well as out?

I agree.
I always expected great things from Bowman, anyway. The music scene in Austin is vast to say the least, and Bowman is by far one of the better musicians out there.
Bowman one day we are going to meet. And it is going to be glorious. For me.
The fan love might weird you out, but it is going to be glorious.

If I'm ever in trouble I use Brian Eno's "Oblique Strategies" to give me an idea of which way to go with a creative project. It's a deck of cards he used to make with some very abstract but brilliant suggestions for work strategies. There's a great online version at this link: http://stoney.sb.org/eno/oblique.html
Speaking of confidence...
If she's listening to "How Do I Live (Bunny Back in the Box Version)" or "I Don't Wanna Miss a Thing" or "Warhammer of Zillyhoo" I would probably agree that those are hilariously unflattering vocal performances. But on my albums I just kind of do it how I like to (the backup vocals on "Ithaca" though are kind of intentionally silly though). My mom thinks your singing is ironically bad/bad on purpose. But I don't have the vocabulary to pinpoint why.
I've heard the "Bowman's voice sucks" thing many times, but honestly I just scoff at it. A lot of my favorite acts of all time have been fronted by guys with "bad" voices - Bob Dylan, Bryan Ferry, David Byrne, Thom Yorke, Frank Black, John Linnell, John Flansburgh, Frank Zappa, Iggy Pop, Donovan, Mark Mothersbaugh, Fred Schneider, and many others come to mind. They might not be classically trained or have a voice that will win them American Idol, but unlike any of the people that fall into the previous two categories, all the people I listed write their own music.
The point is that it's my music and so I sing it. If I can stand to hear it, then that's good enough for me.

When you sing in the shower, it isn't perfect, because no one is listening but you. So instead of singing to sound pretty pretty, instead it's emotional, and some shit like that.
I think he just means Bowmans singing is like listening to someone sing in the shower, except it sounds good and others want to sit in the bathroom and listen/stare.
I personally think that isn't an accurate description, But I dont think I should bust out my Bowman Breakdown just yet.
That would be a cool song, Bowman Breakdown.
