The way I see it- the opening of Wall-E for those that have seen it, and Wayward Vagabond's is quite similar. Both have been living alone for a very long time, and kind of forgot about how society used to be. They both take an interest in the artifacts left by human civilization though- Wall-E with his caravan of junk, and WV with his capsule of canned food, pumpkins, crayons, and Book on Human Etiquette. Wall-E has a cockroach companion, while WV has Serenity the lightning bug.

As for Charlie Chaplin- he's an icon of the silent film era who captured the audience's hearts with his silly and sometimes pathetic screen antics. The same can be said for WV who many find cute and adorable for the same reasons. All while not uttering a word.

I only knew who Luna Lovegood was and would guess Rose just on that. I looked up Ash Williams and saw that he's the main character in the Evil Dead series. Seems like a good fit.
