Dont see anything particularly wrong with the profile besides what you mentioned - the culling for being lazy that is - but perhaps you should include that in the intro itself?

As for the sprite, his left eye's pupil could stand to be moved over, as right now hes looking directly at the screen instead of off to the left like sprites usually do. The mouth is also a little low. Edit; whoops also the right side of his hair should be a little poofier as well, right now its looking a little flat
Edit2.0; damn it, also if his hair is supposed to be the same length on both sides then Id either shorten the left side or lengthen the right, as right now one side looks longer

@ProxyKnight, sprite looks pretty great! My only comments are the eyes seem way too far to the left, so you may wanna move them over to line up with canon trolls. That symbol has also been used tons of times, but if you dont mind that, then carry on

Oh, I knew it would be a common symbol, but it just fit with the idea I had which led to his creation.
Trust me, I hate this character, personally.
Not that I think I wrote/designed him poorly, I just hate everything about him.
I designed him to be an annoying asshole, in fact, haha.

As for his eyes...I lined them up with Vriska's sprite, so unless hers are also misaligned, then...I dunno what to tell ya.

Speaking of eyes, I should really fix those minor mistakes on my human character. :T

I don't know... I don't much like the smaller pupils, quite honestly. You were definitely right about how scrunched the face looked, though I'm not liking how low the eyebrows are. They almost blend into the top of the eye, and one can't quite tell if his expression reaches them, if that makes sense. Maybe you (tricky, I mean) could raise them a tad, and put just two little 'scrunch' marks in between. Just a suggestion.

I didn't actually notice your modification at first! The eye was rather subtle- a nice catch on the critiquer's part. He definitely looks a might better!

Yeah, I didnt like them too much either, but I couldnt figure out how to make them bigger without either a) basically taking out the red in general or b) having them not directly in the center of the red. It was driving me nuts @_@

@Proxyknight, I actually dont remember the sprite I said that for xP But I may've said that because if its a male troll, then I always line up male fantrolls with canon male trolls, since the eyes on males are usually smaller, I find. Not to mention its easier to align male mouths with canon male mouths, if only because the only female trolls who dont wear lipstick have strangely shaped mouths :P In other news, King's lookin good!

Hairlines very off, raise the her-right part of it. Something seems a little strange with the bottom of the shoes but its probably just the ...whatevertheyrecalled's confusing me. If the horns are supposed to be symmetrical, either raise her right ones or lower the left, as the left ones are higher

Why does she have a key to every house? I dont know a thing about key making or whatever, but I thought a "skeleton key" meant a key to every door.... in only one house. Do they have a huge ring of multiple skeleton keys? If she works with a lockpick modus, one could assume shes good at lockpicking, so why dont you just say she picks the locks instead of carrying around a skeleton key?

I dont think she'd have to change her whole persona to go break into a hive and take pictures. The most she'd have to do is find a way to change her horn shape - possibly with some kind of clay -, wear a mask and not wear her symbol. It doesnt matter who shes pretending to be at the moment, if she gets caught then she'll probably be culled.

@llamamiah If you're going for a buzzcut look, i'd probably suggest making some little hair spots jut off a little instead of the little square-skip pattern you've got going on, it looks kinda odd.

I made the pupils smaller and moved the one eye over a little bit, lengthened the one side... Still wishing I was awesome enough at this to sprite his uniform, but... Anyway, is it any better?

Lusus: A big magpie.
Hive: A castle-type thing.

1- Looks fine, maybe make the 1Px lines thicker?

2- A bit more hair near the right horns would be good. Looks fine otherwise. Symbol is a bit large though.

3- What's the grey thing? Also the eyes look strange. Large symbol too.

4- Bright pupils? What is under the green shoes? Symbol could use a little shrinking.

5- Symbol is huuuuge. Hair is a bit funky. Are the horns going behind her head?

I have to ask, is there a reason for the 8/4 naming scheme? I'm not critiquing, but I'm curious as to why you picked it.

Both the brownblood and the greenblood have wonky heads, something's off with their facial proportions or hair shapes. I'd recommend you line them up next to a canon troll like Aradia or Sollux and see where their eyes/mouths/hairlines lie.
The pecs on the tealblood are wonky! Generally I'd advise against trying to put muscle definition on a troll sprite, since the damn things don't even have noses.
What's the grey thing in the greenblood's lapel? Is it meant to be a flower? The spriting is a little strange- maybe make the outline darker than the fill, for starters.
The purpleblood's foot spikes look more like, uh, fuzz. Thicken them up, or maybe rip Equius's shoes instead?
The pink on the blueblood is really... offputting, for lack of a better word. It clashes a bit? I'd make the shiny things the same blue or at least closer to her blood color.

You haven't really given much about their personalities beyond a few buzzwords so I can't really critique that.

@llamamiah, sorry I didnt mean masks as in... well, paper mache. I mean typical thieving masks - You know, ski masks, or at least a bandana covering the lower half of her face.
@trickyklepto, certainly looks better then before! You can still tell the mouth is a little low and too much to the left, but it doesnt look overly out of place.
@lemonaderat, Adding on to the two crits above with a few things Ive noticed as well. The tealbloods legs look a little strange, so maybe you should try ripping the legs from the robot on the sprite sheet and using that as a base to work with - or Rose's legs, or Feferi's legs though she has those anklets or whatever. Indigo's belt or sash.. The strip of purple around her waist, Id suggest thickening the black lines around it a bit more. Olivebloods hair looks a little thin around his right horn, and while the impression I get from his hair in general is thin, the bits under that horn are like 1 pixel wide thin :P

@Thunder Reign: Haha, the names aren't like that for any really symbolic meaning, but it came from when I was creating Damnatti. (She was the first one I made.) I was pretty new to Homestuck at the time, and I didn't know that trolls ALWAYS had 6:6 names. I thought it was like the kids- The ones in the story all had matching names, but not all of them in existence had names of a certain letter. So her name ended up being 8:4, and so I kept the naming scheme with the rest of my fantrolls.

Before and after for comparison. Since you were using Karkat, I used him too, and moved over the left eye so that it was the same exact number of pixels over past Karkat's as the other eye... The result is kinda scary.

You should probably use a female troll as a reference because your troll's eyes are edited off a female.

@Proxyknight, I actually dont remember the sprite I said that for xP But I may've said that because if its a male troll, then I always line up male fantrolls with canon male trolls, since the eyes on males are usually smaller, I find. Not to mention its easier to align male mouths with canon male mouths, if only because the only female trolls who dont wear lipstick have strangely shaped mouths :P In other news, King's lookin good!

Oh, thank you. King's kinda my main character, so I'm making sure to adjust him as best as I can. Heh.

Your name is CANISS ROMULO, and you HATE BEING BOTHERED. The only troll you have regular contact with is your MOIRAIL, and that’s mainly to ASSURE HIM YOU’RE STILL ALIVE. Truth is, he’s the only one who knows how SOCIALLY INEPT and SELF-DESTRUCTIVE you can be. Having built your hive IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WOODS and spent most of your life HUNTING FOR YOURSELF AND YOUR LUSUS, you never really got to learn PROPER SOCIAL SKILLS. Most of the trolls you encountered before your moirail you KILLED, TO FEED THE ALPHA. The aforementioned Alpha is your LUSUS, a ONCE-HARDENED HOWLBEAST who gave up LEADING HER PACK to raise you, and is now ONE LAZY NOOKSUCKER. After TEACHING YOU TO HUNT PROPERLY, she basically curled up next to your hive and had you HUNT FOR HER. Whenever you start getting CARELESS WITH HER MEAL, she GRIEFS WITH YOU, goes out and hunts her prey herself, and then comes home and eats both HER FOOD AND YOURS. Her near-complete lack of COMPASSION or LENIENCE is probably what caused you to HATE YOURSELF SO MUCH. You pretty much have NO SENSE OF SELF-PRESERVATION, often RISKING YOUR NECK for a SUCCESSFUL KILL, and also hunting WITHOUT ANY WEAPONS. You think most young trolls’ pastimes, like browsing the Alternet or FLARPing, are RIDICULOUS. Why would you want to fake things when you can LIVE them?

Caniss is slim and muscular, standing at about 5’7”. Her hair is cut shaggily short, to keep it out of her way. Her nails are also kept short, so that she doesn’t get dirt, blood, and other things under them. Her horns come out, then point backwards, almost lying against her head, like the ears of a defensive wolf. She usually wears either a tank top or t-shirt (black, of course), and gray shorts. If she’s not barefoot, she wears simple gray shoes. Her teeth consist of small, sharp triangles, with longer canines.

@Quizzle For some reason (I didn't look into it so much) when I searched up hunting symbols, the fleur-de-lis came up. I think that would actually work.
