I was the biggest neopets nerd for the majority of my elementary school years.
No, really. The biggest one.
I even stuck with it through the enormous Great Horizontalizing. Then I started not having time to live, and slowly had to wean myself off of it... And then Nickolodeon bought it. And now I occasionally sneak back on, when no one's looking, and see if I can reclaim some of the bliss and ignorance of my youth. Sometimes, it almost works.
But then I look up.
And I see that damned orange splat, like humorous and probably inedible slime unleashed upon the bowed head of a once proud game show warrior. It grins at me, and tells me that yes, it has, in fact, tied up my childhood, stuffed it in a short skirt and sent it wandering the streets to procure by any means necessary the ignorant laughter of children for it's own diabolical ends. And no, there isn't really anything I can do about it.

...Also I've felt guilty when my Neopets are shown bawling their eyes out, staring into my soul because they haven't been fed the requisite number of fake pixel food today, or really in the past few years.
"Don't worry, your neopets will never die! It's just that upon the slightest whim from their virtual stomachs, they will instantly be transmogrified into sniffling wastrels of the kind that peer into the depths of your miserliness, find the last shred of dignity and common sense held withing, and then beat it up for its lunch money while sobbing."

Nickelodeon didn't actually change it much, a few design and graphic updates, some new games, a completely optional form of coins acquired by real money, and that's about it. Really, the NeoCash is the only significant change and thats easily ignored.

Dude, I played that nonstop when I was a kid. When I got a bit older I loved it for the forums and then they sucked. So yeah. Never went back on.
I wrote lame stories for my Neopets because that's what all the cool kids did.

I've been trying to make Homestuck-themed Neopets, although the only one I have at the minute is tealCalibrator and Gamblingant (however it's spelled). I had timeMaiden, but I abandoned her for space.
