We haven't really heard anything from the people working on Kanaya's part for quite a while :/
Can't really wait on them forever...

Good point - PancakeMolybdenum/mechanicalProfessor, are you around/still working on Kanaya's part? If so, now would be a great time to speak up!
If we don't hear anything for a couple of days I'll PM them
Also, we now have 3 people working on Desperation! Yay! We should coordinate who is drawing what. Right now...
Shou: Some backgrounds and Black King freaking out
Alisha
Slice: ?
If would be helpful if you could reference the seconds of your choice.
Question and (tiny) request.
Tavros is able to control nearly all fauna (It's how he got through SGRUB so well): Wouldn't he make use of some of the Dersites to fight the Black King?
I want to see somebody splash a Faygo in Gamzee's face just before his turn starts. (I suggest Equius, as he would just squeeze the bottle in his direction) Could be used to activate rage powers?
Sorry about being late on the bandwagon. I realize the first part would involve a major redo on parts of the Desite battle and Tavros' part of fighting BK. But the (still pretty small) request would be a nice comparison/transition between carefree juggalo and making the world a scary place.
I am sorry I cannot be of any assistance. My abilities in drawing/animation make Scribble Mode look well thought-out and highly skilled.
Alisha expressed interest in doing the scepter. So maybe she could do the end part? Or the middle? I don't really know how to animate fire, so I figured I would do the beginning. And I'll be willing to do the Kanaya section if you don't hear back from those guys.
Not sure on the absolute seconds in relation to the track, but 0:16-0:17 and 0:21-0:23 of the animatic - stuff with the scepter and FX.
like... fire. FIRE! eheeheh.... heh hee. fire...
FIRE!
*runs off cackling madly*
*is still kind of wired from freedom finally ahahah o gog.*![]()
Still here. Ran into some trouble, Pen isn't pressure sensitive for some reason anymore. Any Tips on how to resolve this? I'll try and figure this out. Alright so that's it~! HI MORPH. HI CRYS.
For the final scene, I imagined that once the Black King (BK)'s staff was shattered, then he would crumple and fall backwards. Then the BK would become unconscious and revert back to his normal self.
The lightning strike at the very end I imagined as Vriska finally finishing him off by beheading the BK, a callback to the beheading of the White King by Jack Noir in [s]Cascade.
I devised a simple image manip of the Black King unconscious and cut up here:
I feel like it could be posed better, but it works.
I'll probably end up creating a shape tween from the prototyped unconscious BK to the regular unconscious BK pictured above. I of course ask permission to have one of the multiple artist friends of mine who've offered to help to illustrate the unconscious BK picture mentioned, if that's okay with you guys?
This is... pretty fucking rad, I gotta say
Suggestions/critiques:
1) Maybe move the ship-opening clip ahead slightly (just a second or two? or less, idk) so it fits the music better. I see what you were going for though, with having the doors open on that one beat, but I don't really think it works too well in practice.
2) Reverse the order of this image and this image, because as it is, ending the Incoming Dersites Montage with just those few guys is a real anticlimax. But ending it with an army marching in? That definitely gives it the "OH SHIT" Factor that it definitely needs. (Plus, how are you supposed to care about just another small handful of soldiers dropping in after you've already seen the entire army headed towards you?)
So yeah, those are my opinions, which I apparently have a lot of now. Maybe I should drop by the IRC sometime
I was actually thinking of removing that second image entirely and replacing it with an animated version of This, and then switching them up. :P
I just wanted to say that I am still alive and I'm working on some Kanaya poses. I'll make simple (and horribly timed) gifs, because I am scared to death to make too difficult animations and mess it up. Anyone who wants to is free to help because it's probably way better than my stuff. Right now I am working on this image:
The animation of the marching dersites seems a little too fast there, and I agree with Ktalaki that the marching army should probably be one of the last shots before the battle sequence.
Also, merry gristmas everyone!
Currently working on the scepter and a few frames of crackly lightning FX to go with the flashy.
(Did I mention that I love my lighting brushes?)
*pops into IRC*
I just finished a first draft of a possible animatic for the second interlude, I kinda deviated from the text near the end to try out an idea I had. What do you guys think:

I like it
Also, Kohila: I just noticed your flash is not yet using the non-cut-off-arms images
A few notes based on what I've seen here and in IRC:
First, most of these notes are about the dynamism (or rather, the lack thereof) in the intro mock-up flash. If something has to be a pan of a static image, it works better in the background than in the foreground. This is a dynamic song, and needs dynamic animation.
Scarodactyl's suggestion of panning the trolls at different rates is spot on. Also, at least some of those images ought to be actually animated. It looks strange to have action poses with the only motion being a pan. I'm mo2tly looking at you, 2ollux. Vriska's octet looks odd unanimated, too, as does Aradia. I am 0k with the others being unanimated if the pan speeds are judiciously chosen. Also, the hovering trolls like Aradia could pan along a wobbly path like a sine wave. That would better give the impression that they are actually floating, and should mostly fix Aradia's lack of relative motion.
crystallinePerplexity made a pretty sweet .gif animation of this scene by FelicitousArtisan. What crystallinePerplexity did, or something akin to it, would immensely add to the dynamic feel of the animation. I don't know exactly where that .gif is offhand, but I know it exists.
I am a bit wary of breaking the scepter causing 8888Yy to just unprototype instead of outright killing him. He has lost a head, so unprototyped, that should be a mortal wound. At the last heavy drum beat before the thunderclap, 8888Yy starts screaming. One way we could do that and somewhat preserve your idea is if Vriska strikes the scepter at that point, 8888Yy screams as we see the cracks start to race down the scepter, and the scepter explodes at the thunderclap. 8888Yy is knocked over, deprototyping as he falls, landing headless on the ground - DEAD. Maybe the final image could be something like Vriska, back in her old clothes, with her foot on top of the corpse.
This is the .gif Nimz mentioned... I didn't post it here earlier since MultiversalInk is remaking it in flash.
Here, have some crappy Kanaya animation.

Hi all! I am also one of those lurkers on this forum in general who never had much of a reason to post until I stumbled across this project! Everyone on this thing is amazing and diligent, and I'm a little intimidated even to ask, but here goes:
I would love to help with this project! My style tends to look like this, this or this. I can also animate, and I use Flash CS5, and I am learning how to edit sound. So, if you guys need anything, I would love to help in whatever way I can!
I don't really know what I'm doing with the tools I have on hand, but I think this is maybe a little more better speed?
Uh, what the hell did I just do with the colours there? Did I mention I have no idea what the heck I'm doing with the tools I have on hand? >_<
e: In an attempt to better understand the tools I am using, I made a thing. の_の
Looping, but on white background:
Transparent background, but no looping:
You may have to refresh the second one to see it in action. I still haven't worked out how to make it both looping and transparent background. <_>
This is awesome! But it's going by so fast that I can't tell what Karkat's freaking out about exactly.
And about that super amazingly magical WIP, OH GOD YES. But I see they used my old group shots! Other people have pointed it out though, so I guess I'm being redundant.
Will post some effects later.
