It was a typically madcap day in the bustling township of East Trainwreck. Shopkeepers argued, talking animals waltzed up and down the streeth, the sewage system did its best to keep the myriad horrors it contained from bursting out of the nearest manhole. Most of the day passed with only the marginally unusual occurring, which was itself usual in East Clusterfuck.

No, the significantly unusual was reserved for that evening. A person claiming to be a Major-General from the nearby city-state of Insanityville demanded to see the mayor privately on urgent business, and the mayor (being a reasonable woman) agreed almost immediately.

It was to be a mistake that cost her her life. When her aides thought to check up on her they found her office deserted but for her lifeless corpse sprawled across the carpet. The autopsy came up utterly inconclusive. And so it was that a tradition not invoked in East Trainwreck for - well, for at least a few years was once again obeyed.

THE LYNCHPOSIUM

Following a ruinous conflict involving, most famously, THE UNDERTAKER and several other prominent townspeople, East Trainwreck set up a system to take care of any future conflicts in similar fashion. Building a convention centre around a holy site where the creator of the planet had laid to rest one of his most powerful artefacts, they ratified an agreement to resolve any town-threatening mysteries in that building.

Each day, the assembled townspeople would choose the person they found most guilty and JUDGE them with the DEIFIC POWER of the Convention center. This power would also reveal the true motives and alignment of the person executed, but could (rather annoyingly) not be invoked more than once per day.

For a town with the harebrained culture of East Trainwreck, this method was seen as sensible and productive. And so it was upon the Mayor's abduction and assassination that once again a LYNCHPOSIUM was called.

The game was afoot.

The Interim (formerly Deputy) Mayor hammered his comically oversize gavel on the stage, trying to get the crowd to calm down.

"Now I know that this is very exciting and all, but everyone's going to have to quiet down for just a moment so we can clarify a few things. Same rules as in any previous Lynchposium - majority vote means you hang, you're not allowed to leave the center under any circumstances until we're done, no talking to the news media.

Oh, and please don't try to screw around with the Lynch area, it'll just get you killed.
