No, because if Eridan was Sokka's spiritual descendants then Eridan would be much better with the ladies.

Maybe he's just hiding it. In order to keep the world safe, Eridan must turn off his Sokka-Swag, lest he attract so many women that he forms a singularity.

Speaking of which, does Sokka have any confirmed descendants? Someone needs to carry on the legacy...

Your chumhandle is cascadeViolinist and you tend to use contractions only when you are very excited and trail off in the middle and end of sentences... but you often attempt to avoid that.

None that we know of, but we do know that Bolin is most certainly his descendant-in-spirit. The archetype was passed to him, and he has so far lived up to the responsibility of being New Sokka magnificently.

They're trying to keep Sokka's grandkids out of the show.

Since he isn't related to any of the female leads his introduction would kill any chance of romance the other guys have.

Either because he'd steal the girl or they would literally be killed by association with him.

    Probably true.

That gif is awesome by the way.

In other news that only Dmatix might get I have recently realized how similar mistborn is to avatar and vice versa, at least when you consider their magic system.

I do indeed get it. The similarities are certainly there. Of course Codex Alera has the most similar system to Avatar, but that's because they are 75% the same. Mistborn actually messes around with some ideas Avatar plays straight, and it's interesting to see how both are very good while handling certain concepts (the whole "chosen one" thing in particular) in very different ways. The push and pull aspect of Mistborn is also very much present in Avatar.

You should all read Mistborn by the way. It's great.

Mistborn is currently sitting next to my desk. I plan on reading it once I finish Witches Abroad.

Re: The Avatar: the Last Airbender / Legend of Korra Thread

One of the best parts is the splits between the powers I think. At first I thought about how unfair it was in mistborn how you could get saddled with a shitty power so easily, (Gnats, Im looking at you), but in the end it was pretty awesome how he developed it in the sequel. And of course how fucking awesome the few lucky bastards with the full set are.

Its also cool how Alloy of Law and Legend of Korra (good sequels, a rarity i know) are pretty similar too. The heroes both go to the most important city in the known world, the audience sees how much has changed since the last story ( 200 or so for Alloy, 70 for Korra) and both quickly make themselves heroes (Wax does it through good old western justice though).

They are pretty different otherwise but the superficial similarities are pretty cool.

And there are also the little hints from the last series which are awesome to find.

Re: The Avatar: the Last Airbender / Legend of Korra Thread

Since I've yet to read Alloy Of Law I can't really comment on it, but the stuff about the powers is dead on. There are no useless powers in Avatar, but a Mistborn and the Avatar are very similar in their whole "I get all the powers. All of them" thing. What's scarier about Mistborn is that more than one exists, and each one can destroy an army alone.

(Just a note for none readers: in Mistborn, each metallurgic power gets a name- Pewter users who can make themselves stronger are called Thugs of example. Gnats are Mistings [those who can only use one metal) that can use a metal which can only function with other metals, which they can't use. Thus, their powers are worthless).

Hey, Quirk, does the Promise mention Azula? At all?

Cause I really, really want to know what is up with her.

Im hoping she will appear in part 2 at least.

Also, I have been wondering if the second season of legend of korra will have a time-skip or something. I figure everything with Amon will get wrapped up in mostly this season, but if it does stretch into the second what exactly will it be based on?

This is pretty premature though, I know.

Season one finale ends with a major takeover by the Equalists, season two is a guerrilla war to bring down their new regime and restore balance to the world?

That would be kind of similar to season three of the original series, now that I think about it.

I'm not sure if I want Azula to be capable of reform or not.

Either way I'd like to see Zukko/Mai/Ty Lee (preferably Ty Lee since she's kinda the only one of the three that seemed to genuinely care for Azula) try.

Heck, I still need to finish the Codex Alera series. I got distracted from it partway through the second-to-last book and haven't picked it up again since.

Whenever I see Amon all I can think is Shishio. The same voice actor the same face burns. THE EYES. Oh gosh, whenever I see Amon's eyes I can't stop making comparisons and get really super creeped out. It's like hide your kids hide your wife because... AHHHHHH...

(For those who don't know Shishio is the main villian of Rurouni Kenshin.)

Okay, is there something weird with Amon's eyes? Because I'm positive he has no whites in his eyes.

I recall that he does. In one of the recaps at the beginning of episodes (maybe the fourth) I am pretty sure I saw the whites of his eyes.

Okay, because one of the shots of last week's episode they looked solid yellow to me but that was most likely lighting.

    I knew that.

And you mean that they have the same English voice actor? Holy Shit.

...Come to think of it, Shishio was also the leader of a powerful revolutionary (counter-revolutionary?) organization, had insane amounts of charisma and was sort of hyper-aggressive to the point of outright violent in his methods. And both sort of treat the main character of their respective series as very legitimate threats (Shishio in a very direct 'he's a threat' manner and Amon n that he isn't going to screw with Korra until the time is right or something like that).

All we need now is for Amon to have some kind of crazy-ass sword-style under his belt and the comparison would be...I dunno, that much more stronger and absolutely freaky.

Edit - Picture of Shishio Makoto is related.

Does this mean Amon's going to die in a fiery explosion of his visceral fats after a sword fight with Asami's javelin knife nails as Mako calls in the support of his trusty batmobile (after finishing another hilarious trailer parody video, of course)?
