There are exceptions in Windows Firewall as well.

    Is this something specific to me, or have other people gotten this problem as well? Is there anything I can do to fix it?

    A new addition to this problem: IRC disconnects me after approx. 2 minutes. I can't get anything out of NickServ, or /help. Nothing.

    Also, if it helps, the problem is only on my home network. I took my laptop (one of the computers I was having trouble with) and it works fine there. Just not at home.

    I have a question. I had issues back on my laptop with getting pesterchum to work but now it is on my desktop. How do I use my same username because its not working now on this one.

    Actually you can, just right click the pesterchum icon in the tray

    You can use any mood with any theme using this

    Hi! Uhm, I'm having the same problem a couple of others have been having, but I still can't find the solution. I'm running Windows 7. I had an earlier issue where the program would open but would not connect and I couldn't move it. I was under the impression that I had a corrupt profile, so I deleted the "default profile": <my profile> part of the pesterchum.js, and the js for my profile under the 'profiles' folder. Here's the main issue. Now whenever I try to open it, it acts like it's loading, but nothing happens. Is it a security update or did I do something wrong?

    I had Pesterchum working well on my Mac until I started getting the same error everyone else did (10060?) I deleted the program and re-installed it several times. I've cleared my cache. Now it won't even open and I'm getting a "Terminate or Open Console" option. Any suggestions on what I should do?

    Hmm, I seem to be having an issue. I made a new group for a set of handles involved in an RP, but I ran into a bit of a problem. The group was originally called 'Complete BS', but after making it, I decided to right click and rename it to 'Complete BS! (SQUIB)', which seemed to mess it up. The chums in the group started showing up under the default 'Chums' that I never use. I fiddled around with it, trying to send the appropriate chums to the group, but it wasn't doing anything. Then I tried to rename or delete the group, but the options won't appear. I re-started it to see if that would help, but the problem got worse. I deleted the chums and tried to re-add them, but when I selected them to go to that group, it would say the handle was invalid. I tried to add them elsewhere and send them into the group, but well...



    So should I run a debug, or...?

    Welp. Seems I forgot to do a safety check. When you add a group it does a check to make sure there aren't any invalid characters in the name (namely: [^A-Za-z0-9_\s]). So the only allowed characters in a group name are alphanumeric characters, space, and underscore. Seems I forgot to add the same check when renaming a group. The check is there mainly because having parenthesis in a group name breaks a lot of things. Fixing it now. Until the next update, just avoid using parenthesis in group names.

    Hosting provider is dumb as shit and even though I paid the renewal fee today, my order is still marked "Waiting" and they decided to shut down my hosting. Pesterchum network will be back up asap.

    Pesterchum isn't opening anymore. I double click on it, and it /CONSIDERS/ opening it? but then it doesnt. No warning label or anything. What should I do?

    Edit: I think it might be saying it isnt properly installed? Even though I've had it for a good while? Even after I delete the program and reinstall it, it wont open.

    I install using the "Never Used Pesterchum" or whichever it's called link but when I go to open Pesterchum it says, "Fatal Error! Error loading Python DLL: python26.dll (error code 14001)"
    I've uninstalled and reinstalled. How can I make it work, if at all?

    You need the python26.dll to make it work.

    Thanks so much! I figured it had something to do with the punctuation involved. Uh, I guess I should be glad my stupidity helped bring this to your attention? Anyway, thanks again for giving me the heads up!

    MAJOR PESTERCHUM UPDATE!

    I've been working on this a long time, but I think it's finally ready! Inspired by Dirk's Auto Responder, I figure why not try it myself? I've been collecting a raw roleplaying data corpus for the last six months and fed that along with all the canon pesterlogs into a database, borrowed some code from ALICE and improvised some Markov Chains, and voila:

    AI CANON HANDLES!

    That's right, all the canon handles on Pesterchum are fully functional, 97% accurate canon role players. Unfortunately, that means roleplaying on Pesterchum is banned indefinitely.

    There are a few bugs still in the system, let us know if anything is wrong with them.
