Thank you everyone for the advice.
I might stick to sewing or just modifying that sleeping shirt. I'm not too worried since SuperCon is at the end of June. n_n
Oh and thank you for the hood idea! I could probably use that and there's a pattern somewhere in tumblr that I saw to make the hood.
Time to get started then. Oh boy.

Hey you guys! this seems like the appropriate place for anyone who would be looking for photos.
So, here's a whole bunch of Sakuracon 2012 pictures.

    http://photobucket.com/sc2012

And a brief video I took of silly bits and the shots that were just plain too big to take decently with the camera I was using.

Does anyone know of any knee socks for Aranea? I found these, but I guess I'd have to buy two pairs to get two black topped socks.

    Shirt reference.

She also wears a lighter green undershirt that matches her socks.

If you do the above, definitely draft with newspaper first so you can get the precise fold-over-areas and shapes down. If that isn't your cuppa, you could also just make or find a shirt and paint/sew the zig-zag pattern to the front of it.
I've heard it's incredibly hard to actually make a shirt that way, so it might be easier to get a pre-made shirt and cut it up, then refasten.

You could probably just do a basic white/creme knee sock since the stripe on the sock is really not prominent at all. But if you really want a stripe, you could get something like American Apparel's stripe top knee socks and fold the top under, so only the bottom stripe shows:

Adidas has a cheaper sock that looks similar, but since it's a soccer sock, it's much thicker, has very visible ribbed fabric, and definitely looks like a piece of athletic wear.

Hey guys, I'm going to Colossal con as a short-haired Vriska (Mostly because wigs are money I don't currently have so just using the one I have is easier than getting a new one) and I'm going to put what I have with that in the spoiler below.
Other than the wig situation I have everything I'm going to need except the glasses and the lipstick, I was wondering if you guys knew where I could get any of those.

I'm just gonna wait to redo this entirely.

Nice looking cosplay's, roccie! As someone who's also working on a Dave cosplay, may I ask where you got yours?
    EDIT: Eep! I meant where did you get your wig! Seems I type to fast! >_<;;

Hey everyone, first time cosplayer here. I'm hoping to have a Roxy cosplay ready for August and I was wondering if I could get someone's opinion.

    This:

Is the reference I threw together, but I'm torn on whether the skirt should be purple or white?

And these are the shoes I'm using:

Also planning on knitting the scarf since I can't find one anywhere, does this seem like a good idea?

    Thanks for any help.

Well, purple if you want to be more colorful, white if you want to be closer to canon. In canon, it's a simple white dress down to the knees. But if you want it to be a colored skirt, I would go closer to rose than purple; purple is much more associated with Rose than Roxy. And, well, you could knit the scarf if you want. It's surely easier than finding one with the right pattern.

Hey, I was told to post a picture of my Lord English cosplay over here.

Its pretty good, but Im having a minor problem of all my paint slowly chipping off. Any suggestions?

look into paint made for plastic/rubber. Acrylic paint doesn't adhear to plastic surfaces... cause... well... it is plastic itself. You will have to remove the paint before repainting it.

I do like the staff, by the way. I'm guessing it is origionally a Wizard's staff.... that's a pretty cool way to recycle other costumes.

Re: MSPA Cosplay 4: Breaking convention centre fire codes ...fashionably

Actually it started off as a magician's cane.

The top is one of those bouncing balls that flash when you hit it against something. I superglued it to the top, then wrapped newspaper around the top to give it girth. I then finished it off by wrapping it in duct tape and painting over it. That too is chipping, however and I will need to strip it down as well.

It was quite easy to do, and the flashing head really makes an impact that cant be caught in a photo.

One more time: is anyone heading to Mini Con besides me? Assuming I can finish my dress I will be going as Aranea and staying as long as I can~

    I guess I have a tumblr now?

I finally got around to painting my horns a while back, but they cracked a bit, so I'm hoping that clear nail polish trick will work!

Maybe I'll have my god tier Vriska done in time for Fanime.
(Which, by the way, I've organized a drawing party for! Link to my tumblr post about it is here.)

I would but I'm having to have aid in buying everything and the materials to make the dress would probably be a bit too much for the budget, that and I can imagine those shoes and glasses might also serve as hindrance. Besides that I still would have to the correct color of blue lipstick which isn't showing to be a fruitful endeavor so far. I'm just going with Vriska because I have everything readily available and I do not want to have to make or alter any clothing because I have enough sowing projects going on currently.

Besides I have pretty much everything aside from the lipstick and glasses.
I'm just gonna wait to redo this entirely.

here are my god tier Aradia wings I made in November. i used the cellophane method. it gets some dust caught in between the sheets if you aren't careful, or if you have to spray on the adhesive outside and then bring it back in, but I'm pretty happy with them.

they took two months, mostly spent on shaping the wire. they're also 5' tall because I wanted them proportional and really, really unstable. does anyone have ideas for an attachment method? right now I just have two wires in a really long and narrow U shape that I made a harness under the shirt for, and it doesn't keep the wings from going crooked or turning.

    Sweet wings, CrysSin

So after like 3 months, I got the shades and got a picture... slight problem though:

So close, yet so far. If only the right eye was RED and not ORANGE. I may be able to have this sorted, though!

Obv. skin isn't grey, just a little fun in Paint.NET. Replace "sollux" with "shrunk" in above filename for real-color photo. Also I need a shave.

Hey guys, it's me again. Thanks to a very helpful tutorial on tumblr I've gotten it into my head that making Rose's god tier outfit is a good idea. Since I've never really done much sewing, I was wondering if any of you had some suggestions for the sort of fabric I should use? It would be much appreciated.

Also if anyone has ever bought anything from welovecolor I'd really appreciate you letting me know which shade of the microfiber footless tights is closest to Rose's tights. I've been staring at the shades for so long they're all starting to look the same to me. 6_9

Good grief, haven't posted on here in a long time...

To business: I recently attended an MSPA Fan-meet in Manchester, decided to give some cosplay love to a classic.
