Hey, Could anyone give me a hand with finding some Half-Dead Half-Blind Sollux contacts? Also some Feferi Goggles?
Hey, Could anyone give me a hand with finding some Half-Dead Half-Blind Sollux contacts? Also some Feferi Goggles?
I normally use this website for cosplay contacts: http://www.youknowit.com/
Pretty cheap in respective contact prices, but the prescription ones are a bit pricey. I ordered a pair of red ones from there, and they look awesome. They have some pretty good white ones and black ones on the site. I think you can buy singular lenses in certain styles too.
If the lenses are out of reach, use your face paint and paint your eyelids the colours they need to be. Then you'll just need to close your eyes for pictures.

This person found white sunglasses at Party City, popped out the lenses, and painted the frame pink. If you want visual accuracy, this is the better way to go.
If you want functional accuracy, search the swim goggles section at sports stores for kids goggles in pink (if they'll fit your head) or white opaque adult goggles you could paint pink.
For Feferi's goggles, which I'll be making myself, I think this should work. First get some properly colored goggles, or white ones to paint. Make sure they aren't too tight! (and wear them a bit loosely so if you want to take them off, they won't take off a ton of makeup) ANOTHER THING THAT IS IMPORTANT!!!: Try and get some that have flat lenses!! This is so you can pop them out easily! So you don't get foggy eyes! I have these clear ones that could probably be painted--haven't tried it myself--and they are more rubbery. I took a small blade, and ran it along the top of the lens that's held under the frame, and easily popped them out.
If you buy plastic ones it might be harder to get the lenses out...but having them out is much better :]
I don't know how effective this would be for Sollux eyes, but maybe you can cut little pieces of mesh and use Asian eyelid stickytape or face gem adhesive or some other sort of face-friendly gluey stuff to stick the mesh riiiiiiiight over your eyelids? That's just what I'd try, at least. It'd probably be kind of annoying, but I at least could see it working, and I doubt it'd be too expensive to do.

Oh my gosh, at first I thought you were saying to stick them on your eyeballs XD That wouldn't be good. That idea doesn't seem bad!
Edited for clarity, lolololol.
Today I got the peeeerfect fabric for an Aradiasprite skirt~ I'm thinking of making a mermaid style thing. It'll be open in the front and make a tailish appearance in the back. How does that sound?
Also no luck getting that swimsuit material I was planning for Feferi's. :I Blaah
@KittenPajamas- dude are you my twin? I'm a Southern Californian and is cosplaying aradiasprite. From what I've seen with jadesprites, wearing a long skirt and Tights work, but your idea sounds cool! I already have most of my costume taken care of so just ask me for help if you need some.
Random Question: Since you live in SoCal, are you attending Anime Expo 2012?

Haha MAYBE!! But I'm actually in San Diego, very far south lol. Yeah...it's not literally a mermaid tail though. I found a pattern (not using it, but I needed an idea of what I'm doing and how much fabric I need) and it's like...it flares out at the bottom with an open front, and ruffles along the bottom. Also I will be using tights to cover my legs, I already have a nice opaque pair but need a second for my arms!
And yes, I have plans on attending! I have a friend who was gonna go with me but now she isn't, and I'm hoping to find someone to go with so I won't be a scared little babby. I know for a fact I'm going to Anime Conji, and probably Comic-Con too. I hope I can make it to all three;;
I just looked at blind!Sollux again, and you can see that he's actually wearing glasses in Hero Mode. It's almost like he's wearing Fef's goggles, actually.
Those are totally her goggles. What.
Yeah, I looked up Feferi soon after I saw the Sollux picture and noticed that they were like, identical.
LOLWUT.
Did I miss the frame where he nabbed her specs? O_o
Well I don't think we ever do see that, but soon after he's awoken after being blinded/losing his teeth I guess he takes them for some reason, whether he thinks they're his or cherishes them XD
I think there's only one good explanation for this: Sollux is a crossdresser.
On a whole other note, has anyone ever made John's jetpack? Especially from a generic red backpack? If so, how did you do it/how did it turn out? (I need a new backpack and want it to be some sort of nerdy media reference if possible, lol.)

I made a thing for my soon to be PM
I found my ring before the picture, went down for dinner, and when I came back up it was gone. So I had to edit in the orbs. BI
Pff, haven't posted in ages. .-.
Had a quick skim-read of the last few pages, using plastic ring-binders for glasses sounds like an awesome idea! I might try that and post a picture of how it turns out.
Hey guys! Another quick question- A friend of mine is planning to do a Corinthian!Dave cosplay (For those of you who don't know, he was in the Sandman comics) and was wondering what to do for the eyemouth things. Do you think that using facepaint/eyeshadow on his eyelids would work? Or that the minute details would show up/not run together?
Wow, I haven't checked this thread since... well, the old thread I think. I believe I may have been one of the last posts?
I've been working on my Eridan and Jane cosplays. I'm pretty happy with them except that I'm going to re-make my Eridan horns because they could be a lot more accurate and better looking than they are.. >< and the scarf I have for Eridan is only temporary since one of my lovely friends kindly offered to knit me a good one ;u;
So uh, here's some photos I guess?
Eridan:
(Oops, I wasn't wearing my horns here.. but yeah, I'm the Eridan obviously. Also, I'm wearing a hoodie in both of those photos because it was COLD but let's ignore that because obviously it isn't part of the cosplay)
Jane:
Feedback would be nice, maybe? ;u;

I think the eyelid idea would work well.
Though I'm not too sure how well the makeup would work, but maybe you guys could test something out with eyeshadow/facepaint and then put powder on it to keep it in place.
</noidea>
Filling quadrants like there's no tomorrow-- who am I kidding, I'm an Aquarius.
@Toro: Did you make the pants and shoes yourself? Because they look great. 8O
