@Sayakei Ahaha, okay. Well, if you find something that works for you or need more brainstorming, feel free to report back here. I'd love to see what you do.

@beatleproof I agree with complexTalent. Ben Nye does an awesome job of covering up acne. Mine's terrible, especially around my neck, but you pretty much can't tell in my Vriska pics. As long as you coat it properly, you should be fine.

So, I want to know peoples' thoughts. I've got this wig that I was going to use for a Lust cosplay a few years ago, but I couldn't go to the con, so it didn't get used. I think it was a Natalie from Amphigory, the longer one. It's all styled into Lust's hair, like with the bangs and all that, I just wonder if it's quite appropriate for Vriska? I've got short blonde hair that I'm whiting out for Dave costumes, so not wigging it isn't an option. And I mean, it's a decent wig. I feel like maybe I could pull the bangs back, and sort of feather them into the wig with strategically placed bobby pins? I don't really want to permanently get rid of them, especially since the method I'm using for the horns doesn't involve permanently affixing them to the wig, therefore making it usable for other things too.

Oh dear, I just discovered the massive post that I thought was stolen by the internet in the last thread was infact, not stolen. That's a tad embarrassing, heh.

@fuzzyPsychosis Well, a kind person on tumblr suggested iron on transfer and even provided larger version of the symbols, if that helps any.

Mine never got really hard, even after weeks of drying. It always stays kind of spongy, but firm enough to sand fully.
I don't know how baking would affect it, as I never did that method to avoid cracking.
Okay, that's slightly concerning. Any ideas of how I could reinforce the base so the blade just doesn't plop off? Ha ha, I probably shouldn't have done such a big project without testing the model magic first!

Ohhhhhhhhhh no no no no no no, baking model magic is NOT good. Have you seen those melted Nepeta horns on tumblr? Model magic is DESTROYED in the oven. And more than likely, your oven would be ruined too from the fumes it released!!

Has anyone used caulk? What's it like?

Also, a side note: IT'S A PRETTY AWFUL IDEA TO USE NON-DRYING CLAY FOR HORNS. DON'T BE SKEPTICAL OF IT "NOT EVER DRYING". IT ACTUALLY NEVER DRIES, EVEN WITH PAINT AND SEALANT AND GLOSS. On an opposite note, it doesn't crack either! So maybe it you don't live in a hot place (at body temperature, they get malleable!) you can somehow figure out a way to make them durable? I'm working on a way right now, it may have potential. Or it may not. Either way if you have some lying around, maybe play with it a bit.

Hey! I actually read your post in the old thread, and I was thinking about replying to it, but I don't know how much you solved, so. ;; Just this one it is.

First off, I think that Natalie is fine and you should feel free to use it for Vriska. Whether or not you'd like to layer the bangs in is up to you, but I've seen it done quite well with or without bangs, so that's your call.

Also, just so you know (and this is in reference to your other post), Dave's hair is blonde (as stated on Hussie's now-defunct Forumspring) but, again, I've seen it both ways. I do prefer how blonde looks on him (just because it's more natural), but feel free to go with white, because you said that your hair takes to it well!

So time for a plea for help:
I have no idea what I'm going to do for Godtier!Jade's shirt... thing. Should I buy a dress and modify it, or just sew it from scratch with an altered pattern? What up?

Cool! I actually haven't solved much since I posted that, but cool that you read it! ^_^

Right on, I think just to save me a headache (I'm not too great at styling wigs >.<) I'm just gonna leave the wig with the bangs, especially since I just realised they fall on the left, so that works out rather well. Since blond is canon, I think I'll do a super-blond-almost-white, then.

And if I were you, I'd modify a pattern. Like, it looks like her dress is in two pieces, so I'd modify a regular long sleeved shirt pattern for the top bit, and the bottom bit is just an A-line skirt. You can probably find the skirt somewhere if you really didn't want to sew it, but I'd personally want to to get the fabrics coordinated better. The shirt however would be a super easy modification, just widen the sleeves a tad and make the front and back pointy.
    Hope this helps :3

EDIT: @kyliesays You are a lovely kid!momLalonde, and that wig is perfect.

@ladyBiscotti - Jumping in kinda late here, but I also have cosplayed Lust in the past and am planning to use her old wig with very little modification for Vriska. FMA Homestuckers unite! xD

Unite! I cosplayed as Fuhrer Bradley a while back and I sort of miss the experience. Hopefully I can get enough craziness out of the Lord English cosplay. which I've managed to start. I should have some pictures in a week or so.

Oh envious! I'd love to cosplay Fuhrer Bradley, but I'd have to buy it... Shooting for possibly Hoenheim or Kimblee right now.

Also. I SEE WHAT YOU CROSSED OUT THERE. And that's cool, I'm looking forward to the pics! Oh, and have you figured out how to create the peg leg?

@Beatleproof- I think the Ben Nye will cover your acne pretty well on its own? Unless it's severe? idk, that stuff made my pores invisible.

Okay now I have a question. Here are my horns:

    <snip>

I'm having some bad luck with paper clay for some reason, and someone suggested I use super sculpey for Equius's foil base horns. It should bake all right and the foil prevents the sculpey from being too heavy, supposedly. Also sculpey is my friend, I know how to work that stuff. Should I proceed?

Alternately, how does I paper clay, because I'm getting lumps and cracks that I'd like to be as smooth as possible so I'm not sanding for hours.
Warm water should smooth it out pretty well. The nice thing about paperclay is that it's actually pretty easy to sand. You should be fine.

@ladyBiscotti: I know, they're both epic, and I plan on doing so. Especially with my Philosopher's Stone props I'm going to make. Rock candy + cherry kool-aid mix = WIN.

...I think. I've yet to test this, but the idea is sound. I just need to find how much to put in.

I dunno... I plan on getting one of those huge plastic jars of the powder base, so that might be silly.

And pfft, having a red mouth doesn't matter at all.

...Pretty sure I'd wind up popping one in my mouth and have a 'BLUH!' moment...

And those look very nice so far! It looks like the proportionally correct compared to the comic in size, width and thickness, so that's good! Also, what kind of foam is that (At least I THINK that it's foam...)?

Thanks! Yeah, I just picked up some 99 cent vinyls at a thrift store to glue on top, and they fit perfectly! Which is a relief, considering my circle-drawing skills haha.

It's rigid foam insulation, like this : http://www.homedepot.com/Building-Ma...kuId=202938960
I got a sheet of it for free a while ago, and I've used it for several props. I love that shit. I find it's much easier to work with than floral foam or styrofoam, both of which tend to shred/crumble/lose their shape whilst working with them. It is, as the name implies, rigid. However a box cutter slices riiiiight through it.

    You're welcome, and that's great!

Oh, OK. Yeah, I think I've seen that a couple times before, it IS nice for props that need to be light.

...Come to think of it, I probably need a good bunch if it as well. I've been tempted to cosplay Nicholas D. Wolfwood from Trigun, and I'd be making that massive multi armament cross. Wood is fine to work with, but it'll be like 60+ lbs. otherwise...

Ahhhh I was actually going to use that particular sheet for a Wolfwood cross for a friend of mine. I had this overly complex idea to have all these mechanics in it to have it like pop and slide open and stuff and have handguns inside. Never made it, but it was a cool idea. (sometimes I'm a bit overly ambitious *_*)
So in any case yes please make that cross with this shit. !

...Oddly enough, I plan to have the same mechanism you just described, albeit with a small cache of Nerf guns inside. I also am trying to figure out how to integrate the Nerf chain gun directly into the build, and have the capacity to shoot it still be functional.

    And I will try!

Random questions from me again. woo.
I have a quick question. I want to run to AC Moore to get some fabric for my Vriska God Tier hood but I'm not sure which kind of fabric to use, and if they have the right color. Mainly I just want to know what fabric I should use and worry about color later.
