Let’s create OCs and have them do dA memes!

I tossed around some ideas for Claire.

A) She's a synestheste
B) She's a lucid dreamer
C) She found a genie and made 3 ridiculously weird wishes. Namely, she wished she could beat anyone or anything in the universe at rock paper scissors, that nobody can say the word "moist" in her presence, and that she could telepathically communicate with ducks, but only on odd numbered days.

A) I like that, but we're gonna have to decide which kind she is
B) I'm not too keen on the idea. It really doesn't add any depth to her character and anyone can be a lucid dreamer.
C) The genie thing is really quite a long shot. I thought the Rock-Paper-Scissors one was funny, but the other two are just plain strange.


Anyway I finished this artwork of Hes. I changed the hair so it would look less Princess Peach and more… something else, I guess. Also gave her longer ears to further illustrate her fantasy-ish- background, because what does it better than abnormal ears?. It’s back to her Greek look so I’m going to use that as an excuse for why she looks so young.



I exercised my shading/lighting capabilities in this one, just to see how it would look :v

I seem to be stuck on this one OC.

Well, gotta deal with what I have.

So uh like um

Okay!

So, there was this really old planet somewhere in the universe, okay? And on that planet there were these living things that kinda looked like people and built stuff like people too.

After a while, their technology increased to such a point that it was indistinguishable from magic and some of them tried to gain ultimate power.

It didn't work, and instead blasted most of the planet into oblivion, scattering and burying all their creations and artifacts. This included something rather crazy that manifested things based on belief.

Eventually civilization started to come back together, and with the extremely advanced artifacts, started to resemble generic fantasy medieval kingdoms.

One of the kings garnered so much power and land that he eventually had his subjects and peasants start worshiping him, and with the discovery of that weird belief thing, kinda boosted him up to mary-sue levels.

In fact this was secretly the plan of one of the originals who had succeeded, but secretly.

(And that's why I have to deal with this.)

Motives. What does he want?
Is he a villain? A hero?
Any particular faults in character that don't make him seem sue-ish?
I personally like Cid's twist that he looks like and acts like a complete badass but suffers from cripplingly low self-confidence.

It's possible to have a god-being worshipped by many, gain his power FROM worship, and have him not be a mary sue. He just needs depth.

Okay, motives.

To gain more faith and power, from the direct view. He kinda seems to be chaotic good/neutral. As for character, there's kinda a tendency of pride and oversight and definitely greed.

Perhaps he's kinda too distrusting of generally anyone. I guess something here is more of overwhelmingly over-the-top confidence that's kinda overloaded.

I'm starting to get a good picture of him in my mind, but no clear ideas as to how to make him less sue-ish. Maybe a big failure? Character development. There has to be a moment when he realizes he is too self-confident.

Likely enough. Probably one of the originals shows that he doesn't have really that much power anyways.

What (I think) OrangeAipom is saying, which is technically what I said, is that even though your character is…. nice…ish, it’s not what we’re looking for. It appears that you already gave your character all the back-story, and that story is too complex for our OC’s delicate universe.

What I wrote in the OP is that I want outlines for characters so that we all can fill in their backgrounds, instead of one person writing it all by himself, so that it’s no longer what would normally be called “your character”, but “everyone’s character”. (so shame on you Moldova for letting Kaynato write all the background himself, even though it was already there in the first place (Aw, I can’t stay mad at you for very long. It’s because of your avatar))

For example: Jim’s character. It started with the description of “Fat middle aged guy that turns into a cat” and later developed into “A man who pretty much ruined his life because he got a girl pregnant at 17, that grows to become a bitter old man that hates his son, the very same son that became the head director of the experiment that turns him into a cat”. That right there is what this thread is all about. Also it’s about making dA memes

Firstly, it takes a lot to go against a known godmodder.

Secondly, I wasn't quite going well at that point.

Thirdly, I shouldn't use this OC.
