So, I saw an Adventure Time thread, so I hope it's OK that I put a Regular Show thread here.

This show is consistently hilarious. Every episode I watch sends me into stitches. I absolutely love how each episode starts out as the most mundane thing ever (cleaning a fountain, getting a grilled cheese sandwich, etc.), but then balloons into these bizarre adventures through time and space. The voice acting is spot on, too, especially J.G. Quintel, who is not only the voice of Mordecai, but also the series's creator!!! He has such a "normal" voice that it totally draws you into the story of these two slackers!!! I hope there is at least one person who can agree with me and obsess with me over this hilariously understated show!!!!

God, Regular Show is so good. It sucks that people are always comparing to Adventure Time though, it's easily one of the funniest shows on tv in it's own right. I don't think I've seen an episode yet that hasn't made me laugh at least once, which is more then I can say for..... probably every other show I've ever watched.

Plus, it's one of the few shows that me and little brother can watch together without him wanting to change the channel all the time.

Seriously guys, go watch Regular Show.

Regular Show and Adventure Time get compared because they are both shows that make jokes you would have to be over the age of twelve to understand.

They both differentiate themselves from other shows that follow that criteria because the jokes are actually funny/don't involve saying the word penis repeatedly.

That said Regular Show is so great. The recent basketball episode was brilliant and the ending scene with "Hey Man, Nice Shot" was just unbelievable.

Whoo!!! I'm glad I have some people who agree. I do enjoy Adventure Time, but I totally know what you mean about it getting compared unfairly. I think it's due to the fact that they're the same format (15 minute episodes and a too-grown-up-for-this-time-slot sense of humor). But while Adventure time has more colors and characters, Regular Show actually has character development. Although Mordecai and Rigby are still both dumbasses, they definitely seem to be getting tiny microns better each episode. If I had to choose one of the two, though, I'd choose Regular Show, hands down. While the songs on Adventure Time can be clever and the voice actor's voices are really good for singing, the Regular Show songs are HILARIOUS and the 80's tracks they use are so appropriate for the episodes. "Aww, snap! Aww, snap! Come to our macaroni party then we'll take a nap!"

Also, I know Andrew watches/likes Adventure Time. I wonder if he watches/likes Regular Show.....?

I don't know if you have a beef with CN or you feel bad about liking something on a children's network, but Cartoon Network has had some really great shows. Here's a small list: Dexter's Laboratory, Ed, Edd, and Eddy, The Powerpuff Girls, Teen Titans, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, and, my all-time favorite, Courage the Cowardly Dog!!!!! Soooooooooooo, yeah.

CN used to have great shows (everything on that list is a good example) but now every single one of them is gone. I meant that I hate liking a new CN show.

Yep,it's an awesome show.
I've had few talks with some of the characters on Twitter before. (Typically short talks)
I think Regular Show was the peak, because after it, the new shows have sucked. (Unless Adventure Time came out after, I think it came out before Regular Show though)

Yeah, I totally agree with you. Both AT and RS are weird, but they have a coherent, understandable plot for each episode. You can't just throw together some "zany" stuff and expect people to think it's "genius" or "a masterpiece". Adult Swim did the same thing too. Their best shows were the ones that had followable plots (The Venture Bros. being the best example), but then they continued to spew out stuff like 12 oz Mouse and Squidbillies and shit like that. I mean, putting a bunch of annoying, grotesque images doesn't make you "avant-garde", it makes you annoying and gross.

Yes!!! Megas XLR was SOOO good but so under-appreciated.... Toonami pretty much put Cartoon Network on the map as far as with adults, and all the shows on there were fantastic: Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball Z, Hamtaro, Card Captor Sakura, Batman, etc. Some people may hate me for saying this, but another really good (but weirdly hated) show on CN that they don't show anymore is Code Lyoko... Yeah....
