I intend to buy a NEO·GEO CD. Unlike the AES it is A Console That Normal People Can Actually Afford. It's region free, and I believe the only legitimate way I can play Sonic Wings/Aero Fighters 2 and 3.

Aero Fighters 2 is the first arcade game I ever beat. I only made it one loop, but it still counts!

A normal person could have eaten well for over a year with the money I just spent on Xenoblade.

Dished out $50 to a worthy cause and got meself and my brother Path of Exile beta keys and a bronze kiwi. And let me tell you THE KIWI IS ADORABLE. Money well spent.

Granted I have nobody to party with even if I wanted to. Is anyone on that wants to meet up sometime?

I am a Witch that is playing a Pure Strength 2hand game. It's great fun.

I can party up anytime, I have a few characters lying around that I can use or I can make a new one if you are still early in the game (Could try Templar).

Speaking of Path of Exile. Someone should get around to making a thread for it at this point. Dibs.

    No Wander
    No Prince of all Cosmos
    No Snake

    worthless

e: For real though, one of the playable characters is just a Hellghast grunt?

    that's the best you got?

    it is like

amusingly far too late to cash in on Brawl

    that ship has sailed!

Nah it'll be a big alien or something.

Even so I am exited for the game anyway because the premise is stupid enough, and also because I will take any Smash Bros. I can get, even if it is from a completely different company.

You'll wish you hadn't said that.

    For real though.

    Where is Wander.

Where is the Prince riding around on a Katamari.

Where is Snake with real guns this time.

    Where is Klonoa?

    Where is Musashi?

    Nathan Drake? Fucking please.

Also you will notice nobody is begging for Crash Bandicoot

    there is a reason

Better yet, where is Cloud? That'd bring in the sales. They were idiots to not beg Square Enix to let them have him. Instant money.

Also I would have thought Lara Croft would be a gimme but evidently not.

    We need faceless Helghast soldier.

This just in: Developers should never do crossover games because no matter who they select a large portion of their fanbase is going to feel like they've been shat on repeatedly

There's no way they'll fuck up and have a minimal character roster. I'm, uh, sure of it.

Well, just about every franchise people associate with PlayStation might be / have been PlayStation exclusives, sure, but rarely do they have everything to do with Sony itself....

I think this might be the problem.

Publishers like Nintendo and Capcom fully own the games they are associated with. Sony has to churn out a crap load of royalties for a lot of the characters that are considered Sony over any other company (read: the Square Enix characters).

    Pffffff

That'd be so stupid that it's awesome

I have nothing but lighthearted ridicule for this game. They so far have seemingly only used characters they actually own. That doesn't really say much about how much effort is going into the game. I would be very surprised if they licensed characters from Namco et al.

If they do, and then don't get Cloud, Sony is dumber than I thought.

    Instant

    Money

    also: they own SOTC

    WHERE IS WANDER

You can say like "oh well Melee only has so and so all Nintendo blah"

    but

look at how damn many Marvel fighting games there are

    e:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sony_Co...and_properties

    forgot about Wild Arms

    Jack Van Brace!!

Jak and also Daxter are another gimme, it's odd that they'd wait or not include them

I vote for the inclusion of Lammy

    break her off a piece

Jak and Daxter arguably not in because they are too similar to Ratchet and Clank

Sony continues to lead in innovation. Mascot fighter? Simply astounding. Bravo.

The problem is that Sony doesn't really have mascots, per se. Mario, Kirby, Link, Donkey Kong. All well-established characters. Any gamer worth their salt will be able to recognise and name most/many characters from Super Smash Bros. That's half the appeal of it. Sony doesn't have that. The reason we're already getting up in arms about characters they haven't (yet) included is because Sony doesn't have the well established characters that Nintendo (or, say, Cartoon Network with Punch Time Explosion) has.

Believe you me, I don't claim Punch Time Explosion is by any means a good game. Haven't even played it. Cartoon Network simply has a reasonable roster of mascots to select from.

Far be it from me to suggest Ben 10 is not as iconic or memorable as Dexter's Lab.

I dare someone to Let's Play that.

That brawler looks painful. Man what were they thinking. And SF mistake me if I'm wrong but I believe Jak was a character they flashed at the start of the preview. I can't imagine them not putting Jak in, he's one of their most iconic characters in my eyes, besides maybe Kratos and Ratchet.

I would unironically buy that game if Tony Hawk is included.

Apparently the game is being designed with the help of some well known members of the Virtua Fighter scene so I guess MAYBE it might be good??? I dunno. Would be hilarious if it ends up being accepted by the FGC over Smash.

Doubt it, unless out of the blue they end up having a fantastic engine for it. Just hope they err closer to melee than brawl.

Yeah, when the guy said “unique” I almost chortled, because it’s not unusual for AAA fighting game developers to enlist AAA players. But, if they’re VF players, well, that could be unique. Could be.

Though a lot of Smash fans are kind of insular and brand-loyal, so I doubt your hilarious situation will come to pass, as hilarious as it would be.

I don’t really know the relative badnesses of Smash ripoffs -style gameplay, but we can’t have this discussion without mentioning Jump Superstars and Battle Stadium D.O.N.

No, there is no period at the end of the latter, which is why I put it at the end of a sentence so there would be.
