MSPA Notify Thread: Repository for Macros, Questions, and Innovations

I was using Windows 7, and yes I did have macros in my folder. And no, it never gave any indication or let me see any issues; there was never a "click here to see details" button.

All that goes to say that you might want to include this issue in the documentation, because the answer was pretty simple: I had uninstalled Windows Media Player, since I never really use it.

DERP.......PRETTY DUMB MISTAKE ON MY PART! I had heard that Mspanotify used Windows Media Player for sounds before, but I guess I never put two and two together! Haha, sorry about that...

And thanks for the help! I can finally use Mspanotify again, I'm really glad. I missed it.

That said, I guess I hope it unlinks itself from Windows Media Center soon, I guess?? But shrug it's not too heavy a price to pay for such a great program. Thanks tons )

That's the plan. In making the application cross-platform (Mac and Linux comparable), I will need to drop the dependency of Windows Media Player.

I made the background transparent.

I tried to make the smaller ones background transparent as well but it didn't want to cooperate.

There are some sweet macros, but I was wondering if anybody had favorite notifier sounds?

I have just the default, and one extra, which is the "Put the bunny back in the box" quote from ConAir. I would love to have a few more.

For most macros, I use the Pesterchum alert sound: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/13962524/1-%20Alert.mp3
It goes pretty well with anything, and is a good Homestuck-specific alert noise.

For some others though, I use character-specific sounds. Like honks for Gamzee macros, a turntable scratch for Dave...
I even took a sample from a fan reading of a pesterlog to go with my Jane macro.

What I'd really want, is to have a bunch of actors submit a recordings with in-character voices to be used as notifier sounds.
Just to have an "Update" come out of the character that pops-up in the corner.

If a macro image file and the sound file have the same name, they will always be played together. (Without having to do that custom set-up) If you have a macro without a matching sound, it will pick a random one from that folder.
So, having a bunch of character macros with matching voice alerts to play at random is really fun.

Edit: I could take screen-shots of my folder set-up if you want a clearer idea of how to do this.

I think I may try to get some stupidly relating things. Last night I found a file of cat sounds, which I just matched up with Nepeta.

EDIT: I need someone's input on this. Everything except MSPA notify is fine with the transparency, but it shows white in MSPAnotify. Help?

I thought this was explained, but here's a visual reference so that people are less likely to scroll past and miss it.

MSPA Notify uses only this specific color for transparency: #d5daf0



It's a light blue with
R: 213
G: 218
B: 240

Any space where this color is used will be interpreted as transparent.

There was all this annoying space on the top and left of it, so I had it cropped. It's not a good idea to leave big, empty, invisible space, because that makes it easier to accidentally click it and open MS Paint Adventures, when you were in the middle of something else, or were just going to left-click it away and check later.
Empty space on the bottom or right of the image, is okay, because that can be used for positioning it exactly how you want it in the corner of the screen. I left those sides how they were.

I have the mac version, MSPACheck, and the transparency only works if the background is actually transparent, not blue. So if I see a macro I really like and it doesn't have too many frames, I just manually take the blue out in photoshop.

I've attempted it enter it manually through RGB, through html number, and by just opening a macro that works and eyedropping the color.
But, regardless of how I enter it, when I use that color my MSPA Notify just shows me a light blue background instead of white.

Yeah, according to Photoshop, that's the wrong color blue. I think whatever program you're using to make it a gif is changing the colors on you.

Yup, that works just fine.
I'm using GIMP by the way, I'm cheap. :3
I guess I've just got to fiddle with it until something works.

If it's not too much trouble, could you compare these color values to your PS palette? I want to see if it's the color itself or the .gif conversion process.
