Thread: MSPA Notify Thread: Repository for Macros, Questions, and Innovations

Re: MSPA Notify Thread: Repository for Macros, Questions, and Innovations

From what I can see, you had the right color when you started.

    Before:

But, then it changed when you converted it to a gif.

    After:

I've never used GIMP, but I'm guessing it's changing the palette to match a standard 256 color system.
There might be an option to form a custom palette that chooses 256 (or less) from the colors available in the image. I know my program, GIF Movie Gear, does. It also has a Global palette menu, where you can change any color that appears in the whole animation. So, fixing this problem would be easy in GIF Movie Gear. I don't know much about any other gif-making programs, though. Only made a couple in Photoshop.

yeah in gimp when you load a gif image it loads in as "indexed" mode under the image then mode option. switch it to "rgb" mode then save it then reopen it (probably an easier way to do it but that's what works for me) then use that color as the background it should work. it will convert it back to indexed mode when you save it but it should have the right color to make it transparent now.

Also made this thought it was appropriate

Oh geez, I totally bought a new computer and didn't copy over my macros. Thank god for this thread.

EDIT: Oh hey, there's a lot of macros in the folder already! Thanks MrFreeman.

I uploaded all of my macros to imgur. I'm not sure if any of the macros in there have already been uploaded into other, older, albums but here is the link so you can look for yourselves.
There's only about 100 in there.

Thanks for the tips Crettert, I was wondering why the BG wasn't transparent while I was making this:

I was bored and rereading homestuck and came across this page and decided i had to turn it into a macro. we always need more macros right?

Anyway I couldn't decide if I liked the zoom out after it was done so i made both.

Edit: fixed the zoom out gif so now Dave has the rest of his arm throughout the animation.

    That is really cool Crettert.
I am trying to find a good sound to match it, and not having much luck. How hard should it be to find a .wav of a person shouting "STOP"? It is gosdarned near impossible.

I don't use sounds with my notifier mainly because i don't have any speakers i just use my headphones for everything.

Although I did try to see if I could find anything and ran into the same issue. Not a single good sound clip of someone saying, let alone shouting, stop.

Edit: spoilered for lots of images

Hey all! I made a textless Problem Sleuth macro, though with no art skills of my own I'm left with cut-off edges, up to you if that's acceptable.

I also made an animated macro based on the latest update, spoilers of course.

They're far from amazing so feel free to clean them up and repost if you'd like to.

Good job on the tavrisprite macro I really like that one.

But the "pose as a team" was missing something...

Hi, could you folks help me out? I just downloaded the notifier and the transparency doesn't work at all.
This is how one of the macros included with the download shows up:

Bluh! I use Windows XP, could that have anything to do with it? Or is it a problem with the program itself? I tried changing the background of one of the macros to actual transparency in GIMP, but that just showed as a light grey color. Any tips?

i posted that earlier that should help with the gimp problem. just always make sure the image is in rgb mode

Anonymous asked: I'm running up to date frameworks and I've quadruple checked the macros to make sure they were the right color. I'm running XP on a very good machine and the transparencies just do. not. work. on anything. Did you find a fix yet?

As far as I can tell, it’s still a Windows problem. I wish I could give you and everyone else a better answer to this. People are also having the same problem running the alpha GTK# version. I don’t know how to isolate this issue because I don’t have access to a machine that has this problem, else I could look into it further
i pulled that from the mspa notifier official tumblr, looks like even he doesn't know why its not working in xp sorry bro.

Re: MSPA Notify Thread: Repository for Macros, Questions, and Innovations

Anonymous asked: Sorry if someone's brought this up already, but the transparency doesn't work for me. My computer has Windows XP and a rather mediocre integrated graphics card. Do you think the next update can fix this? Or is it that my computer has a problem? (Also, if you don't mind me asking, when would you estimate the next update will be released?)

I apologize for my late reply, but here we go:

The transparency issue is a bug I have never been able to successfully replicate on any machine I have ever used the notifier on. I can only guess that it’s a .NET 2.0 framework issue, which you can download and reinstall here: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=19

The new version still uses the .NET framework, but it is now in C# instead of VB.net. However, the method of creating transparent windows is exactly the same. I assume if you have the issue now, you will continue to have the issue with all future versions. This will happen until someone hands me a computer that I can work on where it has the issue, as I believe it is 100% unrelated to the notifier itself, and a problem with something in Windows. A workaround might be able to be created, but like I said, I’d need to work on a machine that has the issue.

I’m really losing my patience with the MonoFramework devs, as they seem to not care about this blatantly huge issue they have in their latest installers (that’s right, both the stable and the beta have the issue) where the new notifier WILL NOT RUN. AT ALL. BECAUSE OF THEIR FRAMEWORK UPDATES.

That said, as soon as they push out a legit fix, a beta will be rushed out for everyone to bug test.
my apologies when i looked through his tumblr i didn't see this post, i don't know if it will help any since it was posted 2 months ago. i don't use windows xp anymore and don't have access to a machine that does so i cant figure out if this is a legit fix or not. sorry in advance if this doesn't help.
