I can't really see the diffierence between the remake and the original series. Though a sequel would be interesting.

End of Rebuild 2: Shinji acts in a way appropriate for a man. That is difference on orders of magnitude the human mind boggles at.

And also less filler, animation that doesn't suck, far better direction, and at least slightly more realistically-adjusted characters.

    1) Sweet. The last two episodes made me feel all kinds of freaked out and even a little...sad at times.

    2) I know nothing of this Jellyfish series. Whoops.

    3) I haven't seen either series, but I have to ask what you mean by the bolded part. Although anything that could improve upon the characters is a plus, I guess.

To be blunt, he looks in his pants, finds his balls, and kicks the shit out of pretty much the toughest Angel, and then he starts Third Impact by ascending to godhood. And he actually starts making friends and stops being such a whiny baby the entire time.

So Old Shinji had no self-confidence and a shitton of emotional/social issues while New Shinji actually mitigates these issues and gains at least the minimum level of confidence and sense of self-worth needed to function in society, if not more...

    ...Is what I'm reading here.

Yeah pretty much. He actually acts like a human being instead of a piece of cardboard.

From what I understand, the director of NGE was going through a lot of personal shit while working on the series, so that could explain a lot of things about it.

Also, to the One Piece fans out there...

...Does anyone else get the feeling that the current arc is getting really, really fucking weird?

Funny that you should mention a sequel.

Because here's a good deal of evidence that Rebuild is actually some kind of in-universe redo/retry/time shenanigan whatsit. 3.0's English title is even You Can (Not) Redo.

    e. Hey, original series Shinji had self-confidence too! Right between beating the shit out of Matarael and getting eaten by Leliel!
    ...
    ...nevermind.

Also, Matarael is just the worst angel. It's like the Boxbot of Angels.

    Holy crap

Rurouni Kenshin was one of my favorite things to watch when I was younger, and it was the first manga I ever read, so I'm fairly excited for this.

Plus it's not a terribad hollywood production, as it's being made in Japan.

sig quotes I guess? (one of them)

Agreed! I need to watch more of Cowboy Bebop.

I also have every copy of...RK at home, entire series. It falls back on some Shonen tropes, but it has a decent plotline, likable characters and manages to do a few things differently from the norm.

    Also, Shishio Makoto.

    Um...

Matarael was an absolute piece of shit. So was Sandalphon and Sahaquiel.

Sachiel had a freaking piledriver in his arm, Zeruel just fucked up stuff like nobody's business, and it was awesome.

And I actually felt worse for Arael than I did for Asuka. From my stance, Arael was just trying to communicate, and actually meant no harm at all. It's just that Asuka's primitive meat-monkey brain couldn't handle the eldritch handshake.

    PLANETES. PLANETES so hard.

It's not super srs though. Actually, many bits are quite silly, but I had two manly tear moments while watching, it's 26 episodes, and it's about grabage men in space and it needs a lot more love.

Because you wanted to give everyone the image of Zeruel making toast. This is the highest of all goals, and you sir are a noble man for having shown us its enlightening brilliance.

    Grey text is Tabris, yes?

Re: How about that Anime and Manga

I think grey text is supposed to be Sachiel, if my information and bizarre crack sketch is correct.

And I confess that I've never seen NGE before. I just know some stuff about it due to how popular it seems to be. I should really rectify this situation at some point, if only for curiosities sake.

And I am still upset about how slow the latest Jojolion chapter has been in getting released...

Also, glad to have given you an outstanding mental image.

Relatively speaking. Even Ergo Proxy had its cute Pino moments and some of said scenes were the best. And of course, the Game Show episode. Q is the best host ever.

I remember telling myself to watch that a few years ago, shame I haven't dedicated time to doing so. Any others?
