I just finished FMA:B today. So when I glanced back at this page from Homestuck, I went OH NO!

Everything's come full circle.

What does Kamen Rider count as?
Im pretty sure Kamen Rider is live action
@Grand It reminded me of Zatch and his shield that reflected attacks
Yeah, Zatch Bell! is a really funny, hearth-warming and action-packed show with kids beating, torturing, traumatizing and murdering themselves. On an unrelated note, Shin-chan:
Sorry, I had to ask. Thanks.
I believe the intention of shows like Evangelion is to play archetypes, tropes and conventions and deconstruct them.
Actually EoE is an exploration of the duality of man
Series Finale Shinji is the "good" self-aware Shinji that mans the fuck up and finds satisfaction in himself rather than continue to seek it out in others
EoE Shinji is the "bad" Shinji that is completely overwhelmed by the adult problems that face him and seeks support from others while selfishly ignoring the fact that they have their own issues to deal with and never stops believing the world should revolve him and lashes out against it when it reminds him it doesn't
Basically EoE is fucking brilliant but can only be seen as such in comparison to the original series, it's like if you read a book and then there's the ending but then after the story finishes there's an excerpt that's like "this is how it could have ended if the main character really sucked" and that excerpt is EoE
I've only seen the first two movies of Rebuild so I can't really judge it at this point
I agree, I don't think the intention behind EoE was merely to spite the fandom.
Now that you mention it, they make terrible decisions and don't reach the conclusion of the TV series. I should have paid more attention to EoE. Anyway, I say "they" because, while Shinji is the main character, the decisions and actions of others are substantial, especially those of Asuka and Misato - the Finale is about them too, after all. I also only watched the first two Rebuild movies, but I think I can venture a little into what they mean: this time the characters not only come to a conclusion earlier, but they adopt a much more active stance and dramatically change their reality. However, taking control of their own lives will lead to what kind of outcome? Hahaha, now I'm excited to know how it ends!
Not directly, but you seem to believe (correct me if I'm wrong here) that EoE exists only to spite the less cultured members of the Eva fandom. I disagree; the original ending and End of Evangelion are two parts of the same whole, neither quite works as a completed piece of art without the other (though EoE definitely relies on the original finale's existence more). The jabs at the fandom are Anno saying that this is your (as in the shitty fans, not you as in you Grand Mal) Shinji; this is the Shinji you asked for and this is you.
And you are so fucked up.
So basically it's less of a straight troll and more of a clever deconstruction of the whole "audience avatar" thing you get with most any action show that features an adolescent protagonist.
all i know is that evangelion makes me feel like shooting myself whenever i watch it for more than ten minutes at a time
