@ mM - Ah, I remember Part Five. I didn't exactly hate it, but I wouldn't call it my favourite part either. Still, the fight against White Album is one of my favourite fights in the series and it did give us Rizotto Nero and his stand 'Metallica'.
I mean, look at this badass. Don't want to mess with him, right?
@ Brotherhood - Yeah, the Fullmetal Alchemist manga is pretty awesome. I'd love to read that sucker from start to finish someday. I'm pretty sure that the original anime went off the rails after a while and got a bit goofy.
Just started reading The Saga of Darren Shan manga, after having read all of the books several years ago. Then I accidentally found out it had been adapted to a manga on TVTropes. And it was just as great as it sounded. I was a bit unsure of the way the characters were depicted in the first volume, but halfway through the second I loved them. A recommended read, whether you've read the books or not. Actually, especially if you haven't read the books yet.
FakeEdit: Since I'm not sure whether links to manga sharing sites is allowed, googling for "Darren Shan manga" will do the trick, though I'd recommend buying the volumes especially since the final three aren't avaliable anywhere on the internet yet to my knowledge.
You know, I recently watched all of FMA: Brotherhood because I was a huge fan of the manga, and it had pretty much one of the best resolutions I've ever seen. But watching it as an animation was somewhat of a downer.
I never noticed how many borderline-monologue speeches there are, where people are just proclaiming their motivations and character developments... It's great that they have them, but I didn't remember them being nearly as obnoxious as in the manga. It might just be the medium. To be honest, I absolutely LOVED the first episodes because of the breakneck pace they head, and I kinda wish they had kept up that pace for all of the rest. All that navelgazing might not have done the show any favors.
As a plus, absolutely everything involving Wrath is pretty much twice as awesome as in the manga. So there's that!
FMA was really great imo, but then again I haven't watched it in forever so maybe it's just the nostalgia talking there
If nobodies seen them, I highly recommend Higurashi, Elfen lied, Angel beats, croisee in a foreign labyrinth, Petshop of horrors, and princess resurrection
and to a lesser point I would also recommend Vampire knight, although you're much better off reading the manga, the anime looks a bit odd
I'll just spoiler this so it's not quite so large, I also kind of mention the basic plotline for a couple since a lot of people I talk to don't really know of some of these anime
There's also an animated movie called the girl who jumped through time, it's alright but a little bit dull for my tastes, I much prefer spirited away.
I haven't seen a Miyazaki film in 5ever. I really need to see another one at some point.

Hello, first post here.
Princess Mononoke was nice. Spirits and mystical godlike creatures are abundant in that one.
Sword Art Online is what I'm currently watching. Anyone else manage to catch an episode of that?
Brotherhood and the original are both phenomenal animes. Probably in my top five.
My all time favorite anime, though, is Soul Eater. Its just as long as the original FMA, made by the same people, and its just SO great. I absolutely loved it. Aside from that, I'd say Madoka Magicka and Black Butler are two one's I like alot. Since blue exorcist is similar to Soul Eater (But half as long), I guess thats a great one too. I like Fairy Tail as well but its so freaking cheesy. Every plot arc resolves in THE POWAR OF FRENSHIPZ!!11one!

I still don't get what's so great about brotherhood. It's convoluted, poorly through out writing at it's finest. Maybe I'm just not seeing something everybody else is seeing. Although to tell the truth I've read the manga, and haven't touched brotherhood. Then again I heard that it had the same plot as the manga so there probably isn't much of a difference. Although I do like the original anime, and i watched it after I read the manga. So I don't know.
Although I do feel bad about being harsh about such a beloved manga.
This thread has just been derpified.
Well maybe if you elaborated you can feel less bad about it. People won't criticize as much if you lay out your reasons for things (unless those reasons are total BS, but that's a different thing entirely).
Agreed. There is nothing wrong with having a negative opinion about something, and if the fans of the thing that you dislike want to take it as a personal attack that's there problem. So long as you aren't actively going around insulting people for liking a show you think is bad, you should be good.
Now, if you don't mind, what specific complaints do you have about FMA: Brotherhood?
so I've really gotten into one piece
like, really gotten into it.
I'm on episode 383 (japanese, english subs), and I started late July. So that's 10 episodes a day on average I guess? Probably a bit less, I don't know.
Quick question, no spoilers please, how far ahead of the show is the manga? Like, how long does it take for a newly created chapter to become an episode? I'm beginning to suspect it's at least 2 years ahead because nothing I can find seems to indicate that the time skip happened on the show yet, and apparently that started on the manga in 2010.
The manga is normally kept ahead by about an arc. The anime is currently finishing Fishman Island while the manga is currently at the climax of the arc that follows it.
