Why hello there. Chances are if you're reading this you are probably some or all of the below:

a) a fan of MSPA,
b) Live in or near the UK and,
c) are pretty damn cool

Lets combine all of those together and have...

Anyway, heres some more info on the meetup!

Some of us UK-ites have already been discussing it in the UK FANS thread and it seems like a possibility. But to really get things off the ground I figured lets have a thread dedicated to a specific group meeting.

Date:
Current proposed start date is 13/4/12 (413 geddit, why do our American cousins write dates so weird, huh?) and possibly including the day after as date 413 is a Friday and extending the run of our personal little convention to include Saturday may get us a larger amount of people.
I know this date is a long time off but it would be fun to get as many of us as possible together and, lets face it, spring/summer is a much better time for meetups so we can chillax to the max outside.

Location:
This is still up in the air (who am I kidding, f'ing EVERYTHING is up in the air atm) but we are leaning towards Manchester as the location as it is fairly central in the UK and a major city so it has some good transport connections for people getting to/from. (MEGABUS!) Also Manchester is pretty fun too. That brings me to...

Activites:
Well, crap, I dunno. We'll all go hang out in a park and have a great big picnic. This is what this thread is FOR people Please feel free to suggest things.

CURRENTLY SUGGESTED ACTIVITIES
Go-kart jousting while screaming in your best Tavros voice has been suggested but maybe something a little less lethal?
Also suggested is having an MSPA bake-off or something. Bring something nice you made? We could all have a big picnic! It might not be possible for people travelling far to get to the destination with food. But its something to consider/discuss?
Having a music-jam has been suggested too. Peeps bring along instruments if they can and we all rock out in the park.
Another suggestion I am a fan of is spending some time in this arcade bar. It seems pretty cool and there is a park nearby where we could chill too. Vidya games are pretty cool, right?
If you don't feel like hanging around in a musty bar to play arcade games we could always go to the arcade that is nearby Piccadilly Gardens.
But that one is kinda small and may not take kindly to being stormed by a group of 20+ people all wanting to play time crisis at THE SAME TIME. Also while wearing the most extravegant cosplays know to man. So we could fork out a couple of quid for the bus and head over to the much larger Arcade in the Trafford Centre and use their Namco Arcade. It has bowling, videogames and dogem cars Sure, its an extra cost to incur BUT while we're at the Trafford Centre... (and speaking of extra cost :'( )
We could also go to LASER QUEST. It looks like you can book for a maximum of 30 people and you'd be looking at about £10 for two games. I think games last about 15 mins?

FRIDAY 13TH APRIL 2012
We will all meet in Manchester's Piccadilly Gardens sometime between 12 and 3. Once we're all there
we'll go for a picnic with stuff people are planning on bringing, featureing tab, faygo, batterwitch snackx,
and sandwiches and stuff!

Then, in the late afternoon, we're hiring out the Kyoto Videogames lounge where we can have an MSPA themed
party with themed cocktails and stuff XD The lounge will give us unlimited use of their
xboxes, ps3s and PCs. We'll have some non-video games going down too
Also our resident MSPA DJ will be pumping out your favourite HomeStuck tunes along with some other classics.

In the evening we'll retire to the Hatter's hostel where we'll all chill in their
common room and catch up on the potential 4/13 MSPA update if we haven't done already at Kyoto.
Then we'll split off into dorm rooms to get a good nights sleep ready for...

SATURDAY 14TH APRIL

Where we will check out by 10am and take advantage of the Hostel's free breakfast.

Once we're all fed we'll take manchester by storm for a bit and go mooch around afflecks palace which is a wonderous place.

In the afternoon we'll then head towards the trafford centre. Once there we will
split into two groups (cos there is LOADS of us ) one group will go to play LASERQUEST
while the other will hang out in the Namco games arcade where we could do bowling or
dodgems if we wanted. Then groups will swap so everyone can do some laserquest!

After that we'll probably go for PICNIC ROUND 2 or just chill in a
local park of which there are many if its sunny (fingers crossed) I'll teach you all how to
juggle or something fun, we'll bring frisbees, it will be awesome.

RE cost of the trip, aside from travel expenses, its looking to
come out at around about £40 per person for the whole shebang. I know thats quite a
lot BUT consider that gets you accomodation, a laserquest game, and a private MSPA-themed party,
its not that bad. Also, we'll be somewhat flexible about what you want to go in for.
Say you just want to do laserquest? You can pay just for laserquest. Same for other things.

Also, I'd like to introduce you to people who will be helping me get this off the ground. My elite band of MODERGANISERS.

ChronoSamurai, I am but a poor and penniless person in the UK's most remote island. How am I meant to get all the way to Manchester???

Obviously wherever this is going to be hosted, some people are going to have to travel and that can be both pricey and time-consuming.
My best advice is to look at places like Mega Bus and see if they have a travel link for you. Its really cheap! Please check it regardless as they have updated their destinations over the past year.
Aside from that, I can't think of anything else. A car pool prehaps? We'll discuss it.

Hey! Cosplay is fun. Dress up is FUN.
Although not mandatory.

Yeah, count me in as well. Megabus doesn't let you book tickets until a couple months before, but that shouldn't be a problem. As it's a weekend thing, I should be able to get down and back the same day, or book a hotel room or something.

Hmmm, well, I'm certain that some of the attendees will be over 18. We don't all have to be doing the same thing all day. Maybe noon til late afternoon is cool fun stuff everyone can do and then the late afternoon the ones that can legally drink go drink? My biggest fear is making people feel left out

ArmedRaptor, I only know the people on the list through this forum, so I wouldn't worry too much about it.
Breakfast, I haven't done cosplay or anything like that before, to be honest so if I do go as anyone, it's likely to be someone that doesn't look too out of the ordinary, especially considering it'll be a 4 hour bus journey up there at least.

Anyway, you only joined the forum a couple of months ago, hang around for a bit and then maybe you will know us by the time 13/4 rolls around. Either way, if you feel like you may even be slightly interested, I can add you to the list as a "possible" on a temporay basis. That way you can stay in the loop but with no obligation to come over on the day. Whatever you want, just post and let me know in this thread (or PM or whatever) and I can add you to the list.
