His jeering stopped getting to you a long time ago. You were once far more famous and ludicrously more wealthy than this little idiot could ever hope to be. Once...

The most delightful image pops into your head.

"Don't play stupid. You know the only reason I would come to this joke of a club on my off-time. Give me my money." You decide it's best to get right to the point.

    "Ah, right", he replies.

"Your check, sir! You earned every mark!"

He seems quite a bit more smug than usual...

"WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?" You're starting to raise your voice a little.

"This is only half of what I earned!"

"No", he reasons, "Your contract says six victories. You only won three matches."

"Bull. Shit. I never lost a single match!"

"Yeah, but you only won three. The other three were called off due to... distasteful tactics."

    "They were disqualified for cheating!"

"Meaning you didn't defeat them. You never even stepped into the ring."

"Oh you little SHIT. Give me the money you owe me or-"

"I'll see you Wednesday. Get the fuck out of my office."

You can't seem to recall the last minute or so. You left the VIP room and kind of blacked out. You kind of feel like murdering something. Also, your knuckles hurt really bad, for some reason.

Well, looks like you're not quite finished with this place yet. You've got some money, though. You've got to head by the bank before too late. You also need to pick up your train ticket, and if you have any money left, you should pick up food. A couple of people top say "bye" too, as well.

You don't care where you go next. You just don't want to be here.

Just some quick info here, guys. I'll be updating again soon, just spending a little time away from all my stuff for the holidays. I'll be right back on this soon!

Not cool if it's okay to keep bumping my own thread without any real content, but I figured this post would be important enough to warrant it. Still waiting to get back home before I resume the adventure, should be another day or two. Until then, I have links to both my Tumblr and my DeviantArt (DevArt updated rarely), as well as a link to Invincible in case you see me posting in another thread and need a reminder to yell at me to get back to work.

The door only opens from the inside. Besides, he's still holding the other half of your check ransom, so you've still got some work do to for the little idiot.

You could easily snap his head right off, and you've though of doing so many, many times, but as long as he's writing your checks...

You quickly storm out of the building and start to head back to your apartment. If you're going to the bank, you're going to have to go into the Upper-Class district. People don't like calling it that, but it's pretty much what it is. You hate that place so, so very much. People there always look at you in the strangest ways... and the ones that know who you are openly treat you with disdain.

Not only that, but you have to put on real clothes. You hate dressing fancy. The illusion of money is not one you enjoy putting on.

You wipe some of the blood from your knuckles onto your pants as you hesitate entering your own home.

Hey, it's been about an hour or so, you figure Ms. Sirkus should be up and moving around and not as hostile. Maybe she has something you can do to make a quick few coins. At this point, anything helps.

Gotta' be careful with her, though. Last time you offered to help her, she turned your hair white for a week and you couldn't seem to get the taste of strawberries out of your mouth.

Seeing as you're allergic to strawberries, that was not a fun experience.

You ascend the ladder and pause in front of the door. So not to cause yourself anymore pain, you kick the bottom of the door a few times instead of knocking.

    A raspy voice answers back:

    "Come in, Shaw!"

    Woah, its dark in here.

"Good morning!" your neighbor says with a cheery tone.

    "Hey", you reply.

"What brings you here?" she asks.

"Just checkin' up on you. Wanted to let you know I'm leaving. For real this time."

"Oh? Well, good for you! Hopefully you'll stay gone this time!"

    She's taking this well. Good.

"Yeah, right? Listen, I'm going to head into town soon, I was wondering if you needed any help before I left. I didn't exactly get paid as much as I thought I was going to this week and I need to earn a little extra scratch for the trip."

"Hm... well, I'm testing this new concoction and-"

    "No" you interrupt.

"Alright... well, if you can pick up something from the florist for me while you're there, I'd give you a little something to help with the trip. You're coming back right after, correct?" she offers.

"Yeah, yeah. I still have to pack up my things."

    "Splendid" she replies!

Picking up flowers? Finally, something easy.

"You must slay this wicked creature, for the city! For your honor!"

"The catch is that I need ingredients, you need money, and you're my friend."

You thank your reptilian friend and assure her you'll return with her stuff as soon as you get done with your own errands. You know where the florist is; right next to the butchery and sandwich place.

"Tell Goat that I sent you. Money shouldn't be an issue, but if he charges you for some reason, I'll reimburse you when you get back."

You nod and exit the small apartment. Quickly.

Speaking of tiny apartments: home sweet home.

You should really get changed into something that has less of your blood on it. You might need sleeves and real shoes, too. Luckily, you still have a ton of your old clothes put away in your chest. Seeing as your body hasn't been doing much growing for the past 60 years, everything should still fit.

What to wear, what to wear...

You approach your clothing chest hesitantly. Some painful memories in this thing, believe it or not. Just try not to dig all the way to the bottom, you tell yourself.

Well, that took a turn into an interesting place. You're just going to have to compromise, here.

    Yeah, that'll do.

You take a moment to put everything into your new pockets. Got your to-do list, you calendar, and your check. A little bit of money, too. Maybe you can pick up a coffee or something cheap if you have to wait in line at the bank. Place is usually packed...

As you finish taking stock of your possessions, you seem... disturbed by something. You can't quite put your finger on it, though...

    Oh well.

A short jaunt later and you find yourself at the stable-master's little building at the edge of town. And, just in line with your luck, no-one is here. Shit.

Looks like you've got a bit of a walk ahead of you.

YOU ARE NO LONGER SHAW ALBERICH
