None of the trinkets have any disadvantages, but some of them are noticeably better than others.
    Only ones I would say are worth remembering are;
Flat penny- VERY good chance of spawning a golden key when collecting a coin
Counterfeit coin- Good chance coins are worth double on pick-up

CANCER-- Doubles tear fire rate (Can exceed normal limits )

Most of the trinkets just increase drop rates of different items.

Well The Tick has a disadvantage

I thought Child's Heart did, too?

The tick can't be swapped out if you pick it up, but it's a good one so no big deal.
Child's heart decreases your damage slightly to heart enemies and bosses, but I don't really find it that useful.
I wouldn't go for Cursed Skull, though that's just a personal preference, I count it's advantage as a disadvantage with my playstyle.

The Child's Heart (according to the wiki) also makes certain bosses have slightly more health (?)

But yeah, I don't like the Cursed Skull either, but the Tick and the Red Patch are usually my favorite. Cancer's cool too.

So I completed the second challenge. It gave me the item Lucky Toe, but the achievement Burnt Penny. So it didn't get confusing, I tried the third challenge. I got the Burnt Penny item, but the Candle achievement. Someone goofed with these.

The achievements and item rewards seem kind of bugged.
I've got Guppy's Tail a couple of times despite the fact that I wouldn't touch that challenge with a nine foot pole.

I've never got the pop-up achivements/secrets for any of the challenges, and I've completed them all. But I think I have them unlocked on my Steam list, and the items are definantly available in-game.

In other news just had to abort a perfectly good Samson run thanks to a room full of rocks/bombs that I couldn't get through...

I got the candle, and it gave me the toe Achievement.

Epic Fetus seems to work, though.

Also, I can't play this thanks to the Aquabats.

    Everytime I get technology...

So I just got to Mom's Heart for the first time in forever. It turns out that the secret to success, at least for me, is picking Maggie. Anyways, I got to the Heart, I used bombs strategically, and got it down about halfway through the part where it flips out and throws bombs everywhere.
Then one hit me, and I died. I have lost all hope forever.
...I could be completely wrong though.

Maggie is really powerful. Getting Fetus In A Jar as her was how I beat Satan the first time.

Are the Cross and Abel achievements broken for anyone else? I've been through the cathedral with Maggy and Cain one time each, Abel at least shows up as unlocked in game but clearing the Cathedral with Maggy didn't get me anything.

Edit: Funny, they didn't show up right after I had got them, but the next time I started up Isaac they appeared on my achievements page. They still aren't showing up under 'view found secrets' though.

Isaac updated, Samson confirmed for no longer useless. Takes 4-5 shots to reach blood tears (down from 7), and he has a slightly faster firing rate in exchange for some range.

Not really? It's always gonna lag a little in high traffic scenarios (being a glorified flash game), but I didn't notice any major slowdowns when I played.

Ack, just had FOUR Curses of Darkness in a run. They started on Cellar 1 and I went along with it because of how small that floor is, but then I had one in Catacombs I, Necropolis I, and Utero I. By the end of it I was pretty much ignoring the map even on floors I COULD see.

Although, I guess it's good training for the first challenge whenever I get around to that.

Fuck the cursed skull. I got Satan on the ropes as Samson, and then it teleported me out when he had 1/3rd health on his last form.

Re: The Binding of Isaac: A Journey into the Pits of Some Scary Dark Places

Yay, I FINALLY managed to kill Mom's Heart a second time, and all I needed to do it was brimstone, a pentagram, a level 3 meat boy, a map and compass, and a whole load of other crap.
Maybe soon I'll stop sucking at this game.
And then I'll buy the DLC, so half of everything is harder and I suck again. This is a genius plan.
...I could be completely wrong though.

Honestly, while the DLC adds new enemies and bosses a lot of the new items are so powerful that it gets easier if anything.
    Although fuck those spiders.

So, I got the Polaroid. Should I try and beat it with the Polaroid, then do all of the challenges and do it again?

So I went and bought the DLC and you weren't kidding.
By the end I was a horrific black rageghost with holy powers and a shitload of soul hearts.
The Habit + Necronomicon = Kill everything.
I was playing Judas, and I maxed out the damage indicator on the pause screen on the first floor.
EDIT: Also I had the Mulligan and the Common Cold, so I basically shot giant spheres of holy white plague.

Re: The Binding of Isaac: A Journey into the Pits of Some Scary Dark Places

I came across a weird bug today.
I was fighting Greed in a Secret Room, and since I had the Spectacles all the exits were open. Next to the room was a Challenge Room, which I knew because of the Compass. At exactly the moment Greed died and started dropping coins, I accidentally went through the opening into the Challenge Room. In the middle was a pickup item, as if I had defeated the room already. So apparently during the death animation of Greed it marked the room I completed as the room I was in, which had just changed to the Challenge Room. When I went back to the Secret Room, that was also completed, with Greed death and his money where he dropped it.
Weird, but useful during that run.

Of course I still died to Sheol.

I had a REALLY FUN GLITCH.

Imagine having to charge Brimstone for a 10~ seconds, then nothing firing when you let go.

Now imagine you picked it up on accident, and your combo before it was downright amazing.

Luckily, I had the candle... I beat 3 floors with the candle after it

    then died on Womb 2.

Because it's incredibly easy to kill yourself with it? Because unless you have the candle or something like it, you are at a massive disadvantage against enemies like the regenerating stalkers?
