    Re: OW MY THINK PAN: What MSPA has made me do (weird coincidences two!)

    Yesterday, my local Homestuck fan group got together at a big park for a potluck barbecue (the weather ended up being fantastic, too). We'd planned this a good month and a half in advance. It turned out, though, that there was a street band festival/competition going on in the park at the same time, that none of us knew about (I don't think most of use even knew there was such a thing as street bands). Fortunately, they were performing not too close to where the grills were, so nobody was in anybody's way, and we got to listen to some cool, brass-heavy music while we ate and hung out. The festival was a big regional thing, with bands from all along the west coast in attendance. As it turned out, there where more than a few Homestuck fans present there as well. At least three times, we had people come up and say "Whoa, is this a Homestuck meet?" and hang out a bit before/after performing. A good time was had by all.

    That wasn't the best part, though. No, the best part was the name of the festival, which was emblazoned on a big banner at the entrance to the park. The name of this musical get-together?

    HONK Fest. Allcaps honk and everything.

    Re: OW MY THINK PAN: What MSPA has made me do (weird coincidences two!)

    A web-comic I've been reading for years is in it's final strides. The author is wrapping up loose plot ends accumulated over the years, and I hope the ending will be appropriately epic and satisfying.

    Anyway, I just realized that in Starslip (the comic in question), one of the major events was the relocation of the entire cast to a parallel timeline set 2 years in the past. They did this to escape being erased from history (or retconned into different characters) during a certain cosmic reset. The event was followed by an overhaul of the site and an art style change.

    I just suddenly realized how similar the Scratch is to it in this regard. But in Homestuck, after the reset, the cast finds itself (or will be going to have found itself) two years in the future instead.

    Oh, and the date of the reset? January 9, 2009.

    I'm currently writing a program for a final examination. I needed some random numeric codes for debugging purposes. This happened:
    Code:
    	public static final int PRINTPATHS=413;
    	public static final int ALLCELLPATHS=612;
    	public static final int CREATETILE=1025;

    during the math fair at school, we had different staions to do 'math' things, one was to see how far you could throw the tennis balls in to a bucket, i stoped listening when i heard 'bucket'. i got in line last, behind my friend, she giggled at me,
    our two differences, i have a slight, freeze when i see buckets, she, just burts out laughing,
    she pick one up and started swingging it, and said "wwho am i? you better not get this wwrong!" [she's our headcannon's i can't do it as well :/] we burst out laughing and got stared at
    we did not care :B

    So this past week in TAG class, we've been creating a huge civilization. When it came to religion, I came up with one called tridecism. Everyone accepted it immediately. It revolves around the number... 13. B) And then when it came to the gods... I made one for every zodiac sign. Including Ophiucus. And I did my duty and snuck some references in. The Cancer one is Karkat, the Virgo one is Maryam, and the Aquarius one is Eridanus.

    I feel nice today, so I'll just whisper surreptitiously to you that quirks aren't allowed in the main parts of the forum.

    THIS IS SO WEIRD

    My patron troll is Kanaya, like Rose. My brother's is Terezi, like Dave. My dad's is Vriska, like John. My mom's is Nepeta, unfortunately, but my dad *does* have a sister... I don't happen to know her birthday though.

    I saw this and thought, "that sounds like a joke name the player would try to give a Homestuck character."

    "It should be understood that competition in chess problems is not really between White and Black but between the composer and the hypothetical solver (just as in a first-rate work of fiction the real clash is not between the characters but between the author and the world), so that a great part of a problem's value is due to the number of 'tries' -- delusive opening moves, false scents, specious lines of play, astutely and lovingly prepared to lead the would-be solver astray." -Vladimir Nabokov (Speak, Memory)

    The "Let's See how Far We've come" song came on the radio just now.

    I could close my eyes and practically watch this in my head. I would have just kept this to myself, but "How do I live"came on right afterwards.

    SHOCK.

    Formerly-mutual brorail (who I got into reading Homestuck) admitted red feelings for me and shit went down. I eventually explained it to other MSPA-reading friends with the Eridan-Feferi anecdote.
    Getting into the red quadrant through the pale? Oldest trick in the book.
    Feels lousy.

    It's a stage name, but I still needed someone else pointing it out before I noticed.

    Because god forbid a friend could developed stronger feelings, or someone could feel that a strong friendship functions as the best basis for a deeper relationship, right?

    Sure your situation may be different, but that's no reason to treat the situation in such a black and white context. Trying to further an already established relationship is anything but a trick.

    Seconded, stuff like this can just develop without the guy even wanting it to, it isn't always a trick.

    Ditto.

    If I don't read it that way the first time, my brain automatically re-reads it that way.

    Super deudly sp8ders, guys.

    I've continually called my best friend my Moirail and also do John's stupid confused head...motion thing. I also occasionally lisp and type like Sollux to annoy my friends.
