Tagstuck - Music Metadata Correction

This is a semi-release since people are having problems and I want to fix this before the new album is out. There's detailed error messages now, so you can copy/paste the deluge of code and put it in a spoiler for me to look at.

Also, if you're on Windows Vista or 7, don't run it out of Program Files. That tends to make Windows complain.

I changed all my artists back to 'Homestuck' for a thing and when I went to use Metastuck again to change the names back it simply did not work. I clicked on Start and literally nothing happened (Version 120). so I went to download 124 and when I try to use it an error occurs:

So I copied nicknames.txt from \Metastuck_124\Metastuck\Metastuck to \Metastuck_124\Metastuck\ and tried again. Same thing happened with gaiden.txt. Did the same thing. This time the error was with solo.txt. Then it stopped giving me an error, but it still wasn't doing anything. And then I changed Album Artist from 'Homestuck' to nothing, leaving only Artist as Homestuck. And then it worked. So basically I think Itunes won't show the changes until you kick it into looking at the metadata again. Specs: Windows 7 SP1, Itunes 10.1.1.4.

No, I haven't looked at that yet. But shouldn't that have at least semi-accurate metadata to start?

The main point of this project is to account for the fact that Bandcamp forces the Artist tag to be the same across an entire album. Keeping up with unofficial releases isn't something I'm particularly interested in.

Barring bugs, this should be the final version. Pretty much everything is softcoded at this point, with the exception of handling duplicate song titles.

Also, I can't seem to get it to recognize Unicode, so if you want DJ Saite's authentic Japanese lettering, you'll have to edit it in manually.

Is "Bowman" a Tagstuck nickname for "Michael Guy Bowman" now? Some of my earlier-versions-of-Tagstuck still say "Michael Guy Bowman", while the Volume 9 songs say "Bowman." I should probably run Tagstuck on the whole collection to set them to the same value. Either way, though, there is one typo in the artist list: Minihoof's Adventure is credited to "Michael Bowman", no middle name, and thus no conversion to nickname.

I can't find the exact tumblr post, but that's the name he prefers to be credited by these days. His stage name, basically. It's his forum username as well, so I added it in. The whole thing is a text file so you can tweak it to your preferences.

Cool, that makes sense. I'll fix the other files some other time, Tagstuck can handle it.

Some weird stuff happened just now as I used the program.
I switched between resetting the tags with and without using the artist nicknames.
In the end, iRRRRRRRRECONCILA8LE showed the artist as simply "Homestuck" instead of Bowman.
And for Minihoof's Adventure, resetting the tags without using the artist nicknames, there was an unknown character trailing after "Michael Guy Bowman".

Were you running it a bunch of times in a row? Sometimes that makes Windows bug out and not recognize the changes, but they still happened.

Can't find anything in the files that would cause either of those to happen.

So walliard, tagstuck seems to assume that 'null', from volume 8, is from Mark Hadley. I know that null got pulled from vol 8, and that it's probably just assuming that it's Null from Song of Skaia, and that it doesn't really matter, but just a heads up.
