Actually, this comic raises some questions about the timeline.

If Splashmaster has 'nearly beaten his old record' already, either he's finding it much easier this time around (unlikely?), or he didn't have that much time to smash ships up the last time the Nightmare Knight summoned him up. It seems plausible that the old Legendary Hero took the same route that Cucumber is now, and knocked Splashmaster out of the running first thing.
