Haven't gotten to the Gridlink yet. I really should, though... The few tracks I've heard sound superb.

I don't care what anyone says, Hot Space is not a bad album.
Loved the new Autospy too, also doom metal has been an obsession of mine for years. Just listened to 40 watt sun again today, still not exactly sure if it can compare with warning but it's close enough!
SUPER LATE SUPER POST
Gzar: Most of the stuff in that list was too heavy even for me, but Sigh is pretty cool. Imaginary Sonicscape is the only album of theirs that I've heard, but I like it. Also props for posting Obscura. Their latest album was pretty great too.
Nice. Were you familiar with all those records before you tried reconstructing the songs, or did you have to look for them?
Pretty cool. It kind of reminds me of Steely Dan, in a way. Their style isn't quite the same, but they both have that same ultra-polished feel. The second song reminds me a bit of Genesis as well.
Brass and strings arrangements in the first song are neat too!
Oh good, because I've had a question about a sample for awhile.
On the extended version of DJ Shadow's "Best Foot Forward" (as seen on the bonus disc, Excessive Ephemera) there's a very brief clip of a man saying "And now...". Is it just me, or is that from "Plug Tunin (Last Chance to Comprehend)" from De La Soul's 3 Feet High and Rising?
Randy Newman has such an inspiring voice.
Magnificent.
The new Autopsy was very refreshing to hear. With so many old bands coming back around and damaging their legacies (I'm leering at you, Morbid Angel!), it was nice to hear my favorite straight up death metal band not only do well by their standards, but evolve constructively as well.
Thank you. I've been around here, but really just lurking in the depths without much time to comment. Now that I've jumped into the waters, though, I should be around a bit more than before.
My good friend and roommate is a huge Obscura nut, so he's gotten me to pay more attention to them than I did before. Tech death isn't my favorite flavor of metal, but when a band does it right, it can be intense, and Obscura does it right.
I thought that sample was familiar, but I could never place it from the De La Soul song. Now I kind of want to abuse this sample, haha.
Todays listening:
Over the summer, I think Renaissance has grown to be one of my favorite prog bands of all time. This song, along with many of theirs, is spectacularly beautiful. So lush and divine. It's been stuck in my head all day and I never want it to leave.
Enjoying some tunes from the band named Sacriphyx, fun little australian group that's pretty much only done a couple splits.
All the sampling talk reminded me of this:
One of my favorite songs ever.
E: love that Deltron. Will have to get that album.

the buildup is always my favorite part of the album long Boris songs. the climaxes are good too but stuff like this has always endeared me to these guys
"bees that are on fire are several times more manly than those that are not on fire."
Love Flood, feedbacker is great too. God dammit now I just want to listen to it all over again.
Digging that Deltron.
I'm in a nasty rut with Mother Mother.
Although, I think their downtempo stuff has a lot more emotion.
