[color="#104422"]It's been exactly one year since I posted my very first post and simultaneously started my first thread on this forum. 10 threads, 1,781 posts and countless hours of sleep lost later and here I am, wiser, stronger, handsomer than before. Even my grammar has improved. More importantly though, I've made some wonderful friends here on the forum, and now's my turn to give back to them all, and to perpetuate the high standard of Forum Games we have cultivated since forum games was an interest of the fora. Other forums' games are things like "Post what the poster below you is thinking" or "Count to 100" or "The Penis Game" (all true), but here we strive for excellence. Our mods put in effort and or players are rewarded with rich fufilling experiences. Most of the time. Sure our retention rate isn't always great, but hey, running a forum game is hard. Anyway, I just wanted to say you are all awesome and I hope to create a game worthy of your time.

So, what is it? A year ago, I started this thread; Tontine. It was the first time I'd ever posted on this forum (or, excluding a brief stint in my childhood on Neopets, any forum), but I still managed to find a niche in the community. For about a month. It fell apart due to me being as green as the inside of a Dionaea Muscipula but I had fun while I was doing it. Lately, I've had the urge to correct my mistakes and give this game a second crack. I've modified the rules and tidied up everything as well as built some new challenges to freshen everything up.

Tontine is a gameshow-style forum game played in weekly-ish rounds. Each round is comprised of two challenges: the Priviledged's Challenge and the Paupers' Challenge, in that order. Every player begins as one of the Priviledged and they will gradually become Paupers as the game progresses.

The Priviledged's Challenge: All remaining Priviledged players compete in a ranked challenge. The higher they rank, the more money they earn. This will go into their kitty, whch will carry across the entire game, increasing every time they participate in a Priviledged's Challenge. At the end of this challenge, the three players who earned the least amount of money that round will become a Pauper and go on to play in the following Paupers' Challenge.

The Paupers' Challenge: All the Paupers will participate in an elimination challenge where the loser of that challenge will be eliminated from the competition entirely. Inversely, the winner of this challenge will gain the reward of being able to return to the Priviledged. Unlike the Priviledged's Challenges, the Paupers' Challenges do not earn the Paupers any money.

These rounds will continue until there are only two Priviledged players left. At that point, the third finalist will be the Pauper who has the most money in their kitty and the fourth and last finalist will be the Pauper who can survive a Gauntlet of challenges to be the last Pauper remaining.

After that, the Final Four contestants will participate in the last round of challenges to crown a winner of Tontine.

The challenges in Tontine will be anything I can think of to throw at you. They'll vary from a strategic to creative based challenges then beyond. This means I'll be looking for judges as well as contestants.

To ensure quality and freshness, I'm currently recruiting a Brains Trust. This is variant of a Spectator that have been utilised in Mafia games recently. They'll be my trusted advisors, responsible for impartially judging certain challenges as well as being a sounding board for me as I create and fashion challenges. Basically, I just want somebody to say "No Niall, that's a bad idea," before I do something stupid. If you want to be on the forefront of the action, to be a Contestant, please leave your name below. To let you know, this game, for those that get to the end of the game, will last between 3 & 4 months. It will require you to check in every day. Mostly you won't have much to do on any given day, or if you do have more to do than simply making a choice, you'll have an appropriate amount of time to do it in. ie. I'm not going to make you do fanart of all 151 original pokemon in 24 hours.

Aside from the gif thing (I could draw an incredibly bad JPeg rendition of the events that occur in thread, but not much else), I'm basically doing the same as Solaris. Brain Trust+will do art, but not consistently /or/ well.
