Re: Fuck Toasters: The Complaining About Electronics Thread

I think need I new headphones... the ones for my mic set are being wierd and giving me issues.

Worse: I just got my internet back after nearly 24 hours without because someone hacked my school's network. Our school makes us re-register to use the internet every year, and someone set it up so that when you tried, you got redirected to some link, and clicking it caused your computer to do horrible things/explode/start the 2012 countdown. I was lucky and didn't have that happen to me since I was late moving in and word had spread around about the issue....but I couldn't use the internet T_T

Even Worse: When I did get internet, there was nothing good that had happened. NOTHING. Except mini update...

Despite the great reliability my laptop has shown over the years, every once in a while my "8", "i", "k", and "," keys will just stop working temporarily (they all stop working at the same time). It's annoying, but nothing the onscreen keyboard can't handle.

Fuck this fucking laptop. It has overheated more times then I can count. Today. It's not like I'm blocking the vent or anything, I was running two fans at it, I have the vent as far from touching anything as I can, and STILL. It did it the first time I made this post. It's done it every other time I've tried to save a document, corrupting the document. It does it when I tried to watch a Youtube video.

The keyboard doesn't even work, and I hate typing with the trackpad, so I use my tablet, except the USB port is messed up, so it keeps falling out.

I could go on, but if I did, it would probably overheat before I post.

There might be a problem with your fan or you might need to replace the heat-sink. Also, your OS might be mismanaging the fan. I know Windows XP had that problem (my computer would sometimes overheat running XP but not when running Mac OSX).

The real problem is laptops are really difficult to cool. Many laptop have cooling issues simply because there is not enough room for a good cooling system.

My Powerbook G3 had a heating problem a grand total of one time (processors used to not run so hot). Unfortunately, the one time involved fire! (for the curious: some loose plastic somehow wedged itself between the logic board and the casing directly beneath the CPU).
    definitely panic if there’s caviar

I guess this is a relevant thread: So my dad and I were looking at all of the specs on my bike but he'd forgotten how to measure "frame size." He starting plugging in "how to measure bike frame" into google on my computer, but right after he typed "how" the past options dropped down and "how high do you have to be" was the #1 suggestion.

He kept typing, but he did glance up and I'm pretty sure saw the grossly out of context search term. Oh dear.

So my cell phone went through the wash again, tried that bowl of rice method. Didn't work.
While the keyboard still lights up, the main screen and the numbers don't turn on at all.
So I guess I need to spend the rest of the money on getting some cheap made in 2000 phone.

Oh lord do I have something to contribute to this thread. So my friend got a pair of swank headphones, I asked to borrow them. A week later I went to Arizona and my friend broke them. Then she got like two pairs of Skullcandies and then my new pet kitten chewed through the wires. Then my friend loaned me her laptop and last night something happened and the thing won't turn on anymore. I'm pretty tech savvy but wth is my luck with hardware.

Also my graphic tablet pen is broken. XD;; I'd say may this thread live on but that would just suck.

My desktop keeps freezing for no reason. I have not found the source to this yet. I hope to look through some crash logs though.

My phone has no idea when it's out of batteries. It'll be full for 3 whole days, then on day 4 I WATCH IT go from full to half to DEAD in an HOUR...THEN IT STILL STAYS ON ALL DAY! But it still BEEPBEEPBEEPS telling me to charge it every FIVE FUCKING MINUTES, and somewhere deep down I think "NO, if I charge it when it's not even dead that'll just make things worse!" So I let it actually die one day, charged it...IT STILL DOES IT.

    Y U DON'T NO WHEN U ALMOST DEAD, PHONE?!

    Printers.

    They are manufactured in hell.

That's really all that needs to be said.

    Oh god printers are evil.

I need to switch my Dad's Wifi to the main router and then switch it back to his office's router (He works at home and my house has 2 routers,) and then do the same with my computer JUST to print something.

It's also a scanner, so I need to do a lot to scan something,

My printer devours paper in a hellish process.
The paper doesn't even go through.
    It just gets crumpled.

I am not even shitting you.

My Mircosoft computer is so out of date that whenever I turn it off I'm afraid that it won't come back on ever again. Along with TroubleShooting, Flash, and Java updates, it gets very tedious to stay on. Not to mention one annoying virus that seems to make me die a little on the inside whenever it pops up. I finally got my computer to run correctly, only to find out that I needed to update my Mozilla Firefox to be able to watch videos. Its literally one thing after the other with my computer..

Earlier today I was printing out an essay and somehow the paper went through at an angle.
It was put in perfectly straight, but the printer had some sort of massive issue.
It came out with one corner all crumpled and the text was sort of sweeping across the page in an arc.
    It was just fucking weird.
...I could be completely wrong though.

Some times when I try to shut my alarm clock off in the morning, the wiring gets all screwy and no matter what setting I put it on, it continues playing music.....extremely loud.

Just went through my third pair of headphones since the last month and they went out right while I was passing through classes where I was chilling out with some jams. Stupid, shitty Skullcandies. I honestly don't know what other good brands are out there, if even I knew I couldn't afford them.

Fuck Skullcandies. Greedy company selling poorly built merchandise and fuck the little tweens who wear them and think they're so good.

Re: Fuck Toasters: The Complaining About Electronics Thread

May I just say - I don't care what anybody on this earth says, anything HP produces comes from hell; especially anything HP combined with Windows Vista. Complete torture. (I apologize in advance for the hefty post.)

We own an HP Pavilion laptop running XP that was bought in 2004, an HP TouchSmart running Vista bought in 2008, we've had various HP printers and I also have an external HP LightScribe DVD writer that you plug in via USB. Each of these products may have worked well once or twice when we first bought them.

The TouchSmart was just plain crap from the start. We bought it because it came with a Blu-ray player, so viewing Blu-rays on the 27" screen was a lot of fun. After about 6 months, the player suddenly stopped working for absolutely no reason. Not long after, we couldn't play DVDs anymore, either. CDs worked fine, however.

Drivers would randomly stop working on it, and we've had it crash just about every year, around the same time. We've had problems with the screen discoloring, sent it back to HP at least four times for those screen problems AS WELL AS hard drive failures (after a while, they started sending us hard drives).

Every HD we've put in crashes, no matter how new or clean they are. It began giving us BSoDs, so we've reformatted the whole computer to factory settings probably 10+ times and replaced all of the RAM. Even after numerous complete wipes of the system, we still get BSoDs.

Don't even get me started about trying to install Win7 on that thing. Seriously it is the computer from HELL.

That aside, the Pavilion has always been clunky and slow, and has exhibited overheating/locking up/BSoDs for years no matter how many times we clean out the fans or delete programs or clean the registry.

The LightScribe drive I have is in no way Mac-compatible. The fact that my parents bought a DVD camcorder back in '05 that is literally the worst, incompatible-with-absolutely-everything piece of crap doesn't help. I was trying to put some of our home videos together on a nice DVD to give to some friends for Christmas, and had just gotten my iMac and was excited to use iMovie. I could not figure out how to get those videos off of the mini DVDs that the camcorder records on, without ripping them on my old PC (most reliable computer I ever had!) and moving them to the Mac, but that required re-encoding, which in turned caused loss of quality.

I plugged the external DVD drive directly into the Mac and opened up HandBrake to rip the video files right off the DVDs. Well this worked once or twice. It decided that it didn't want to read certain DVDs, period. Every bit of research I did led to me finding out that it was a common problem for that particular DVD drive.

    Just my luck. u___u

Anyhoo yeah sorry I made that so long but I hate HP products with a burning passion and never ever EVER recommend them to ANYONE EVER.

Re: Fuck Toasters: The Complaining About Electronics Thread

On the topic of earbuds, a friend recommended sony fashion earbuds to me once, and I bought a pair, and that was the first pair of earbuds to never have any problems. None of that "front panel popping off of the bud" bullshit, or "only one bud works now, haha" stuff, or anything. Then they disappeared, presumably carried off as prey by my cat. Nonetheless I went and bought another pair of the same brand and still no problems. Plus, they're only like $8. More than worth it because flimsy earbuds suck.

Also I had skullcandy earbuds once. They fell apart. Same with a pair I had once that was actually pretty cool with big ol' rhinestones on the outside. As far as I can tell, the flashier the earbuds, the less reliable.

    Now for my rant:

Fuck my desktop. Really, just fuck it. When I first got it, the nice video card overheated (the fan didn't work) and started to melt. It made my room smell of burning and death, and had to be replaced.

Then later I uninstalled Norton Antivirus, with the proper removal tools even, and it decided to get mad at me and make it so I couldn't use the internet until finally I tracked down some obscure solution.

Cue multiple instances of being a complete shit computer in general and numerous occasions where I did a factory reset. I think the count is at three now. Maybe just two. Too many. Unfortunately none of these helped because "complete bullshit" seems to be a part of the factory settings.

Then I decided that I wanted to play Portal 2 on there, hahaha nope. This lead me to discover, after months of troubleshooting in every possible way, that playing any directx game resulted in a generic video card driver message and a crash. Now if I want to play games, it has to be openGL. In fact, even openGL doesn't work sometimes. The video card is high end but nooo, it doesn't want to play games. At all.

Right now it's decided that having a display is too mainstream, so the monitor won't work. I've barely even bothered trying to fix it, because really, fuck that computer. Seriously I don't even use it most of the time because of its constant stream of bullshit, so it has no reason to be fucking up. And I'm pretty sure it's not a problem with the monitor or the vga cable, which is something I could fix easily because I have spares of both. Nope, I bet it's the computer. Being an asshole just for shits and giggles.

    Fuck that computer.

Edit: Oh god Alfredo I just read through your post and felt like pointing out that the computer in question is an HP too. I'm starting to think that HP really stands for HellPuter or something.

EditEdit: Or Horrible PieceOfShit. Yeah that's much better.

Re: Fuck Toasters: The Complaining About Electronics Thread

I have three studio headphones. Two of which only have sound in one ear and the third I may or may not have accidentally sat on and bent the wire frame. It still works, just fits a little funky now.

My phone got left out in the rain while I was camping. I took the battery out to let it dry and it started working again minus a few of the QWERTY keys when you slide it open. It also starts spazzing out every so often and starts adding random strings of numbers around 20 digits long into my address book. Piece of crap StraightTalk phone.

As for my computer... ugh. I just don't think my CPU can handle half of the shit on my computer. FL Studio will freeze if I'm running too many sounds through Omnisphere and crash. Adobe Audition NEVER remembers my audio hardware setup whenever I reopen the damn thing. A lot of my file icons seem to be missing for some reason only God knows why so half of my stuff is the "I don't know what the fuck this is" file icon when my computer doesn't think it recognizes the file extension. And whoever answers the phone the next time I have to call my ISP about the internet not working again is going to get a thoroughly reamed asshole.

Fuck my toaster. Sometimes when I use it, it gets jammed and starts making a really loud sound as it tries to unjam itself. Gotta stay in the kitchen while it's toasting stuff.

Love toasters, need a new one though.

General complaint, and I'm going to get murdered for it: I dislike Macs, very very much. I love my PC over here, and people keep telling me that 'Macs are waaaay better'. I had to try to use a teacher's during art. Grrrrrrr

They frustrate and confuse me with their lack of right click and their 'x' button on the opposite side of the screen
