I'm going to be in Portland from August 6th-9th, and I'm moving there mid-September
Why, is moving to Portland getting too mainstream?!
no no no, it just sounds like you have a case of Portland-itis. Actually, it sounds more like you're going there for college, that's cool.
Have you seen Portlandia yet?
Seen it, not a fan. It focuses so much on all the weird, out-there stuff and how "Everyone there is a hipster". Portland is actually a pretty awesome place.
Points for Questionable Content though.

Yeah, I am transferring to Portland State. I have orientation stuff for a lot of the day on the 7th, and on the 9th I'm sneaking into some other orientation's event and then I'm seeing Peter Murphy that night, but I have no plans for the evening of the 6th and all of the 8th!!
Everyone is asking me if I've watched Portlandia, but I'm pretty hopeless with watching shows, so I can't make any promises
But that's what makes it so great, and why me and my friends love it so much. It's like their love letter to the PNW. Kinda how like Almost! Live is the "I see you" column of the Seattle area.
That's awesome. Welcome to the Pacific Northwest. Unless you're transferring from within, well then I'm just stupid.
Also, it's on Netflix (I think). Though I'm sure in Portland, eventually someone's gonna sit you down and make you watch it.
Are there any more Bay Area meetups planned for August? Starting a new school in September, and I won't be coming home for breaks very often this time around. It'd be nice to see some of you whom I met in January, and others who I haven't yet.
I'll still be in California, and of course I would like to meet some fellow fans in SoCal once I get a handle on my new academic commitments. But the medium-term future for me is a long time, and in the present-meantime, I've got about one month left here.
I'd like to know about any Bay Area meetups as well!

Sounds like something you Bay Area folks can make happen. Sort of a so long, Southdweller party, perhaps.
Btw Sollux Arg0naught, how far So are you talking? Like Santa Barbara? Los Angeles? San Diego? I'm around Los Angeles southness, but kinda inland. Not that I'm the most likely candidate to go to a meetup, but stranger things have happened.
Hail! Anyone in .... California-sort-of-Bay-Area-But-Not-Quite-I'm-Not-Actually-Sure there is a planned Drive-in movie thing in Sacramento for the first weekend of August. Here's a Facebook Event link, and here's a Tumblr info link if you're of the opinion that fb is the source of unadulterated evil.
(Really I'm not sure what to call this area. Central CA? South CA? Satan's Armpit?)
(And I'm gonna be immature and say hey 69th post)
Hey, new to the forums, and from the Land of Rain and Mountains (AKA Washington)!
New to the forums eh?
*shun*
Saw on the first page that someone called Washington LoRaM, but I like trees better. Or maybe Land of Rain and Scenery?
LOJHAM (Land of John's House and Mountains, lol). idk though, "Scenery" is awfully subjective.
Also, it only occurs to me now that everyone's version of Washington only really describes the western half. Eastern Washington isn't about trees, or mountains, or rain, or coffee for that matter. Us Western Washingtonians are assholes.
Washington in my experience: Land of Confusing Roadways and Fish Smells.

LOCRAFS? LOCR—shit, wait, I can't capitalize for emphasis um LOCRAFS? I'm tired of your Washington hating butt, where the crap are you from?
That's mean. True, but mean.
(also, all the important food ever comes from Eastern Washington, most of Western Washington couldn't farm their way out of a paper bag)
Welp. Looks like Jordan's got it covered. Guess Im not needed here. Ollie outie.
