The Butcher and Banker don't even ask you any questions - having seen you in the Walrus room, with the Walrus missing, they drag you off to the Doctor, who you doubt will be very enthused to see you.

He's waiting in the hall for you, arms folded. You've normally got nerves of steel, but he appears to be really angry.

In answer to your question, there was a diamond - the Rangoon Diamond - but it wasn't the target of the heist. The Baker had been misinformed on this, which she suspected, because she wasn't a part of that bit of the mission.

The Walrus itself is carved from a single enormous ruby. It's of immense value, both fiscally and otherwise.
