    by everyone
    rj you silly

why would you even buy brandshirts if not to convey to everyone that you like something
because i want people to not be watching me from the bushes and saying "holy fuck, there's a homestuck fan! it's absolutely not like that is an occurrence that could happen"

this is the reason i never wear anything with explicit logos

my problem isn't that seeing fans and wanting to say hi to people who have common interests is a weird thing

    but you're all like

    fucking birdwatching or whatever

    and then talking about it

go up and actually interact with people instead of telling people you wished you did on an internet

    overcome the shy barrier

elsewise don't be all "missed connections" up in here. this isn't craigslist you guys

there was really only one "missed connections" thing that you said. everyone else who saw someone with a homestuck shirt on did approach. the other posts were more like "welp, i wear homestuck shit quite often, but i haven't bunped into anyone else who's gotten it!"

on a related note, one time i put homestuck graffiti in the banthroom stall of the chemistry building, and a couple of weeks later i saw someone had written
    "BLUH BLUH HUGE BITCH"
over it. it made my day :3

    yeah but

    i don't see the point

it's like bragging about being a hipster

"yeah, i'm so cool, but nobody else can see how cool i am! so let me tell you other cool guys using the internet so you can share my pain"

That just seems like a very cynical way to look at it. Seriously, that seems like a pretty big overexageration, and also slightly offending.

    /shrugs

Some people like wearing shirts and meeting random strangers who may share their interests.

Some people think those people are weird and would rather not do that thing.

Why do we have to mean to each other about it?

I don't really advertise my enjoyment of Homestuck, but I have a Joltik hat I've worn on occasion and a DnD shirt. It's sort of neat to have random strangers approach you to talk about something you mutually enjoy (DnD or Pokemon in my case) .

    how is it not that

i mean, besides the fact that you are all obviously way more excited/excitable than hipsters in general, as a community

this is a pretty okay thing! i like when this happens as much as the proverbial next guy.

but like, i just don't get the whole "i wish i saw someone with a homestuck shirt, but it would never happen, but then it did happen, but then NOTHING HAPPENED, oh god oh man"

edit: i mean it's not like one gets up in the morning and puts on a homestuck shirt and is all "shitdamned jesus, this fucking shirt will attract all the homestuck ladies such that a guy like me will be drowning in tail," but it feels like all of you are equating homestuck apparel to, like, nerd bait, or something, like trying to go fishing but for nerds and with a shirt and you're the rod and this is not a perfect metaphor

well, it's not like it's something that you put on in the morning with the express intent of luring fish onto your nerd rod, but seeing as it is the topic of the thread, it seems like an appropriate place to talk about it. if we were going on incessantly about it in another thread, then yea, that would be kinda creepy. but, seeing as the thread is specifically for "if you've ever bumped into someone wearing a homestuck shirt, or have had the same happen to you," it's relevant. if i was wearing a shirt from my college around and someone walked up to me about it, i would think that it was pretty cool too. doesn't mean that i expressly wore that shirt saying "TIME TO GO SPARTAN HUNTING TODAY RAAAAAWR."

I can see where you're coming from about the discussion of it, and I likely wouldn't have posted about not being spotted (I did not seriously expect to be and wore it because it was a cool shirt) if I didn't want to rant about people lacking the ability to recognize zodiac symbols (one dude actually thought Leo might be something Satanic adjoadfa), but ehh, it still just seems to me like talking about something fun and unexpected that happened to you.

    Re: Fan sightings!

Well for one thing I doubt anyone here actually thinks they're better than anyone else for wearing a homestuck shirt, or that it makes them cooler or whatever. And the whole "share my pain" thing is also silly and overexagerated. Isn't the intent of the thread to share the joy of meeting a stranger that you share something with, in this case, specifically homestuck? It seems to me that the only one who is adding any sort of malicious intent or ill will to it is you.

Wow ... I thought the intention of this post was pretty obvious but perhaps the title might throw people off.
It's not like I go around with HOMESTUCULARS and friggin' reel every fan I see in on my FANTASTIC MEATHOOK. Jeez, It was just very unexpected to see a person with HS appearel where I was and it made me happy to see them. That's all there is to it, at least from my part.

It turned out that the person sitting in front of me in my psych class last year was also an MSPA fan. It's probably a testament to our personalities that it took only 2 periods of us talking after having met each other to figure it out

i think the thing that is putting me off more than anything is the title of this thread. the connotations just scare me, like it's this huge secret underground team of people with binoculars looking for homestuck fans

"hey captain i think i see a pixelated record over here in rockfort"

"holy fuckdicks WRITE THAT SHIT DOWN WE HAVE ANOTHER ONE"

but i will stop talking here and leave you all alone because clearly i am causing all the problems

What would you suggest as a good title then, XFactor? Maybe something like "Chance meetings with other MSPA fans" or something

actually there's at least one thread over in the MSPA forum which is basically exactly this topic, and really the whole thing should be merged over there. I just can't be bothered sorting it all out right now.

    Re: Fan sightings!

I have seen absolutely nobody in my area.

This area is so... ugh. It's filled with nothing but typical teens. And in my school, the people who DO go on the internet are usually just random retro junkies that play stuff like minecraft and haven't really been on enough to even hear of MSPA.

I managed to talk one of my classmates into reading it, but he's not a big fan.

So so far, there is nobody in West Nova Scotia that is interested in MsPaintAdventures. I'm the only true fan there. Unless there's this guy hiding around the corner.

    Re: Fan sightings!

I...I guess XFactor is kind of right. In that, yeah, I do keep a lookout for people wearing Homestuck merch, but...

...well, that is a kind of stalking, isn't it? He's right. We go on the internet and we talk about seeing people, all excited, and we describe when it was and where it was and...we act like stalkers.

At least I do. But it's just like...I'm not trying to stalk them, I just...I'm not exactly part of society. I want to be, though, and this is a good opportunity for me to get away from my computer and make some friends. I mean...I'd give anything to be a part of something past the computer screen. I know the world can be a cruel and wicked place, and yet still some part of me wants...

    ...I just...

...safe behind these windows and these parapets of stone
Gazing at the people down below me
All my life I watch them as I hide up here alone
Hungry for the histories they show me
All my life I memorize their faces
Knowing them as they will never know me!
All my life I wonder how it feels to pass a day
    Not above theeeeem
    But part of theeeeem

    And ooooout there
    Living in the sun
Give me one day out there
    All I ask is one
    To hold forever

    Oooout there
    Where they all live uuuuuUuuunaware
    What I'd give
    What I'd dare
Just to live one day out there!

Out there among the millers and the weavers and their wives
Through the roofs and gables I can see them
Every day they shout and scold and go about their lives
Heedless of the gift it is to be them!
If I was in their skin
    I'd treasure every instant!!

    Oooout there
    Strolling by the Seine
    Taste the morning out there
    Like ordinary men
    Who freely walk abooout there
    Just one day and then
    I swear I'll be content
    With my share
    Won't resent
    Won't despair
    Old and bent
    I won't care
    I'll have spent
    One day
    Out theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere!!!

Nevermind, I take back what I said about people not being like that.

I guess the title is pretty misleading. Still think your reaction is unproportional, but there's some logic behind it at least.

But it doesn't matter because this thread is going to get merged into a board I don't visit.

I was at the Steampunk World's Fair today and this girl's text message ringtone kept going off and it was Eridan's theme.

I would have said something but I do think it's kinda weird to be like "LOL HEY COOL RINGTONE BRO" so I just stood there. Yeah.

FF the only HS fans I know were the people who made me read it.
And they don't have any shirts. Lucky for me, I have Sepulchritude. *Sigh* MSPA is so good, everyone should read it.
