Yeah, this thread has been basically dead for a long time until this B/W 2 business reared its head. And even then it hasn't really been super-active.
1) I hate and I mean HATE being the last post on a thread that hasn't had any response in 24 hours. I am not really used to Froums, the only forum I have ever been on is Gaia and I left that place 2 years ago.
2) I love Pokemon, it was the first game I ever played and it has some comfort there, but really I wish I didn't need to dish out more then $100 dollars for another gaming system to keep up... arggg its like Apple and all its stuff, you by one and then a monmth later a new one comes out....... I dislike that too, Why must I be so cheap and wait until the last possible minute to get stuff? I just Bought my DS lite for $99.99 and all the Pokemon games for it and DQ 9 along with other games on sale.
How cheap is the 3ds going to go? and does any one know any good games for DS and I guess 3ds now

You can go back and edit your posts so that you don't double post. Just calm down and don't worry about it so much.

Nintendo Handheld consoles are not "like Apple" in that you buy one and a new version makes your software obsolete a month later, the DS was released in November 2004.
The 3DS was released in March 2011. In case you couldn't do that math by yourself, that's a time distance of over six years.
If you only bought a DS (now a piece of hardware that is over seven years old) recently despite the fact that the 3DS was released one year ago then that's sort of your own fault, so please don't act like Nintendo is somehow ripping you off >_>
Yeah even though that seemed like a rage against Nitendo that was more being mad at myself for not saving the money to get the 3DS.
I had only enough money to buy the $99.99 DS lite, and and 4 DS games, then over the year i saved or just looked in the $5 bin. at the time I thought about saving to buy the 3ds, but it was the first time in years Nitendo DIDN'T make money off of one of their products and figured they might try to sweep it under the rug or something, but after a few months of playing my DSlite, and then reading more into the 3DS I realized that they wouldn't do that.

I think part of the reason that people are confused is that it's a 3DS.
in design it's fundamentally the same as the DS and gives people the implications that it's just another model like the DSi.
So instead of giving it a brand new name, they're still using the DS name, and not something that sets it fundamentally apart from the original model.
ugh.
they're probably confused by the backwards compatibility
good thing the ps vita didn't make that same mistake!![]()
You guys I have some thoughts on how Pokémon Snap 2 could be awesome if it happened.
The concept is great. Pokémon wildlife photography game! But the first one was poorly executed. Here is how I would change it:
More Pokémon and more variety
Pokémon Snap is far too short, and you can only catch Pokémon in a small, set number of poses. That's lame and boring. There need to be at least 150. If they can do it for that PokéPark bullshit they can do it for this. They should be allowed to wander and interact with other Pokémon to inject a sense of randomness and variety. Your photos and experiences could and should be unique to your playthrough!
A world more conducive to actually photographing shit
It shouldn't be on a rail. That is a horrible idea. All that does is put you on a strict timer and cause you to restart if you miss something. It's very frustrating. Imagine instead if you could freely move around a large enclosure Solid Snake style and photograph Pokémon from afar, or sneak up on 'em. Tying into the above suggestion for more variety, you could have the enclosure on a day/night system with certain events only happening at certain times and places.
Put a zoom on your camera
Jesus christ
Remove the shoehorned-in "gamey" elements
No pester balls, no bait, and no horrible "boss battle" with Mew. I seriously doubt they'd do that, but trying to aim some dumb projectile and then really quickly take a picure before you've moved too far on a rail is stupid and terrible. It should be closer to real photography, in that you have to be somewhere at the right time to capture an event on film.
Bait might be ok, but you shouldn't throw it at Pokémon.
Fix the scoring system
Oak's scoring system just sucks. It does. Technology has advanced far enough to allow for a more complex algorithm that will fairly judge attractive close-ups, skillfully framed photos, etc. It wouldn't be perfect, but it could be a lot better.
A more compelling story
It doesn't have to be some dumb thing that dominates the game, and I'm not talking about shoving a bunch of terrible cutscenes in, but it needs to be something better than the original. Why can't you be a freelance photographer competing with some other photographer for the cover of nature magazines or something? That'd be neat.
In short I want Pokémon Snap 2 on the Wii and I want it to be super awesome because it easily could be with the right director
if they did that on the Wii U with the controller like a camera I would so buy that shit
and if you put it on the 3DS don't make me wave my console around like a madman in order to aim
It also needs Circle Pad PRO support.
if they put it on the 3ds OF COURSE THERE IS GOING TO BE WAGGLE because of the accelerometer, it'll be just like super mario 3d land's "camera aim"
but quite frankly that would give a much more controlled way of aiming, even though you wouldn't be able to play this, say, on the bus
at the very least they would put that option in
btw did you notice that when you use the inner camera, the view autoshifts to make it look like you're looking directly at the camera

I'm planning on making my own pokemon game eventually. I doubt I'll be able to get it significantly off the ground, as I'm kinda busy with HAM and school, but I've been bouncing ideas around in my head
I was planning on getting rid of EVs, as the idea of grinding for one stat seems unhappymaking. Instead, I was going to allow you to assign EV points yourself after you level up. This is an idea I'm not too sure will be received well...
HMs would also go away. You'd beat a gym leader, get the HM, but you wouldn't actually need to teach it to a pokemon to use it outside of battle.
There would be a new element: Light. Dark and Light are both not very effective against each other.
Another new element, Surprise, would only appear in a single pokemon, and only have 1 or 2 moves that use it.
This region would have a dystopic government that puts extreme restrictions on the people in the various cities.
Halfway through the game, you can choose to either join the region's law-enforcement branch, or Team Hades, a crime syndicate whose goal is to overthrow the cruel government.
In either case, you make friends who are loyal to you, and it ends with a fierce battle against the government headquarters, as well as your rival who always joins the opposite side.
Finally, you take on the leader of Team Hades, who reveals his plan all along was to replace the cruel dictator and take his place, continuing harsh restrictions. Once you overthrow him, you can make yet another choice. You can bring peace to the world, or you can do all the evil deeds you can to remain in power. Either way, the leader suicides, prompting a battle with one of the 2 legionaries. One, (Strigahwei, a giant white owl) arrives upon the death of an evil villain (if you chose the good path), while the other (Chirotarus, a shadowy bat), arrives upon the birth of a great villain (if you chose the evil path)
The game would be flipped around a bit in terms of rivalry. Your rival will always pick the pokemon weak against your pokemon and make a lame excuse as to why its better. Also, once you reach the end of victory road, you'll find your rival catch up to you and challenge you with half-fainted pokemon.
The game would have a built-in challenge run mode. You don't even have to beat the game: you can choose settings to make you own custom Nuzlocke run (No reloads, pokemon die on faint, unable to catch pokemon, have 'X' pokemon as your starter, enemy pokemon are 'Y' higher level, no items, etc...)
I can't remember but I think there was other things I was going to say
A one-pokemon type is an idea I don't think I could ever get behind :V
Fighting honestly also seems to fill the niche for a light type at the moment but it's a far more common suggestion
well I remembered one of the things I was going to mention, and that's that this regions legendary trio is going to be of 3 legendary dinosaurs, and they will be fighting/psychic/dark.
But yeah the fact that Light has always been missing as an element made no sense to me.
Doesn't the "Dark" type in Japanese translate more accurately as "Evil" anyway?
That's a good point. Dark type isn't "dark" so much as it is "dirty fighting." That's why pokemon like Scrafty are still dark types despite not being creepy or shadowy in any way.
So having a light type would involve having attacks that are unbelievably honorable.
It would be kinda silly.

...I could be completely wrong though.
Yeah, I always assumed that's why Fighting attacks are super effective against Dark type pokemon (and the reverse is not effective), because they're "fair" fighting techniques, and the honorable fighter is supposed to win in the end (narratively speaking, not necessarily in reality).
Dark types are Cobra Kai, basically.
But status effects don't work like that! You can only be poisoned or paralysed, the game doesn't allow them both to happen at once.
I think Vark means it would be a 50/50 thing, like how tri-attack can burn, paralyze, or freeze you.
