Well, the biggest reason I'd point out is (maybe not with the Swellow/Pidgeot example) different movepools. If there are only a few points of difference between stats, and the pokemon with worse stats has a better movepool, I'll likely end up going with that. Plus, raising something from level 3 means you've taken the time to specifically select its moveset. Personally I feel more comfortable with a pokemon I've raised from low levels than a freshly caught one because wild movesets are often shitty.
Streets ahead.
i totally agree with this.
I don't like switching out a pokemon I got a lvl3 and raised it to lvl 50 with some pokemon I just caught. I think thats why I don't use my legendary Pokemon.

Also using legendary pokemon feels like cheating because they have better stats and moves than most AI pokemon and the AI is rubbish even without using them

I feel like I am not even playing or fighting fairly, when I use legendary pokemon

I didn't feel bad using Zekrom against Ghetsis' fucking underleveled bullshit Hydreigon. You know it has perfect IVs in each stat and I think they even gave it a maxed out EV spread. To make it fucking annoying as shit.
K, probably not EV spread, but I do know that max out IVs on the champion pokemon. And Ghetsis is kind of endgame boss.

I Really use legendaries for Clearing out a room to get to another legendary. I have a specific team for ledgendary grabbing.
and also because shiny Rayquaza is the sexiest pokemon out there IMO.
Oh! My Friend code for White is 1807 4364 6821. I have two different teams, just tell me if you want to battle Legendaries or not.

I have never battled with anyone other than in the game. Don't you have to be near some one to fight?

I am reasonably certain that every Pokemon DS game allows online battling

I've done Online battling before, it's fun even if you loose. Unless you face japanese hackers.
Sucker Punch, yeeeeeha!
On a slightly different topic, how many of you dudes have heard of Pokemon Online? It's basically like competitive(ish, most of the people aren't as good as normal players) WiFi battles, but on a desktop, and it's super fun.
My brother spends a lot of time on that though I never really got into it myself
Have a sneaking suspicion he uses it as much for the chat feature as the pokemon battles

Ooooh, we're posting teams now? Here's my current OU-legal set, spoiler'd for mega ultra long list:
Team breakdown:
- Ninjask is there to set up to +6 speed and however many attack boosts I can get off, then Baton Pass into whatever counters the most stuff on the opposing team.
- Breloom's STAB SporePunch is absurd, especially if I can get any Speed boosts on it.
- Cloyster is ridiculously capable of sponging hits with 504 Defense and 304 HP, and the White Herb + Shell Smash + Skill Link combo lets it murder virtually anything with STAB Icicle Spears, even moreso if I can pass a Swords dance or two onto it.
- Salamence is basically there to abuse Moxie (STAB Dragon Claw + Dragon Gem + Attack boosts + +6 Speed + Moxie boosts has won me many a game via depressingly easy sweep).
- Terrakion is my coverage / cleanup 'mon, with near-perfect move coverage and a massive 392 Attack.
- Wash Rotom exists purely to provide a little bit of additional coverage and, more importantly, to mess the hell out of any setup / spikers / defensive 'mons with Trick.
I'm rather proud about the absence of Dragonite and Scizor from my team, all in all.
I also have an OU-legal Rain team (it abuses Toxicroak and Tornadus to hell and back) and a standard UU team, if anyone wants me to post those.
Hi folks, new to the forums but I do enjoy the odd spot of pokémon-ing.
Haven't done anything for a couple of weeks as my Uni's poké-club has disbanded for the easter breaks but I'm slowly working on making a team of every type, not following any tiers particularly; just picking the 6 mons I like the look of most and making the most of them. Can't say I'm especially competitive, but my favourite moment was beating what was, frankly, the most OU team I've ever seen with my far from optomised mono-fighting team.
Oh and I've got a full pokédex if anyone needs something bred up to complete their dex/round off a team. I'll throw my FC up shortly.

Oh god you people know so much about pokemon.
I, uh...
I love Ampharos, because I never miss a thunder with them.
Seriously.
Ampharos is like my third favorite pokemon just for that.
OHTW
Pokemon + Nobunaga's ambition has an english thing now
EDIT: Also, Compound Eyes Galvantula is the best shit ever for Thunder.

ugh.
I'm absolutely 0% familiar with the Nobunaga's Ambition games so I'd have to research that a bit before getting excited about this one or not. As far as I can tell it's sort of a tactics game I guess? Because a Pokemon tactics game would fucking own.
Basically, Pokemon Conquest is Pokemon Tactics.
Also as a crossover game it can be seen as totes noncanon since it takes place in a feudal(ish) Japan(ish) and partners can range to things like Reshiram and Zekrom to Mewtwo.
ugh.
Mewtwo, Reshiram, Articuno, Groudon...
And Jigglypuff
Word
^haha nice.....ditto
It looks like an interesting game, I think I'll get the game.

WHOAH WINDFALL OF NEW BW2 INFO Y'ALL!!!
- They ARE actual sequels, they take place 2 years after the original BW games.
- There are new/changed towns, locations, and gym leaders!
- A lot of the map is now frozen over for some reason (likely Kyurem-related)
- Black and White Kyurem do, in fact, know the "hidden" moves Freeze Shock and Ice Burn (respectively)
- There are wild pokemon available from across ALL generations, not just the 5th!
- New player characters and new rival character (pics below)!
- There's a new Water-type gym leader (dude with swim goggles) and a new Poison-type gym leader (girl with guitar)!!! (!!!)
- You have a different starting town, located in the SW corner of Unova (you couldn't go to that part of the region in BW)
Pics!

Does that water gym leader have a really bad tan line :P
Anyway, I'm glad to hear that they're legit sequels and not just a rehashed third version. I'm sure it'll still be relatively similar, since its still set in Unova, but I'm still pretty happy, especially how quickly we're getting it compared to other games.
