>Turn your back on ol' dick-for-brains and consider briefly what you can remember about transportation between dimensions/plains/realities/what-have-you. Make sure Squeakers has your back. As for Jay... Well, have Jay go do his thing.

First thing's first
You give Jay the biggest hug of his life. Gods you're so relieved he's okay even if he's being as crazy as ever. You're not down a summon, and you have both of them with you right now. That's the best thing that's happened to you here yet. Maybe you were freaking out too soon when it came to Jay being possibly dead. You mean, you did read they're like unkillable or something like that. You feel silly but you don't care. Things are a little closer to being okay.
Yeah you doubt he's going to pull anything right now. He was looking pretty gobsmacked after you told him off... with your fist. Was it too much bringing up Hannah? Gods, that was terrible a thing to say to him. But no, no you can't start flubbing with the things you say now. That guy's too sharp and keeping him in line's going to be difficult enough.
What you remember about transportation is very little. You didn't study it because you're training to be a summoner and that's a whole different field. They intersect sometimes with summoning rituals but summoners bring things to them, they don't go to things themselves. Also, that field is still so new there's not too much on it. Hey, at least if and when you get back and Hawk loses to you he can go into that field.
Would that work? He would probably call your bluff. He wanted to go separate ways and all. You really do need him to get back. Unless there's something or someone here other than him but the most you've seen that there could be other people here is that path in the distance. One thing you will do is take Master's gremble with you, he'll be the most important summon here if he can jump realms back to Master.
You don't think Jay did something to the gremble, more what did the gremble do to Jay to revive him? The retching sound becomes painfully obvious now that you're looking at the source. Poor thing is losing his meal into the bushes. You want to help but right now he's pretty miserable looking and occupied with vomiting. You might get bit for your troubles. Grembles are more animal-like in the mind than most summons and that makes him unpredictable a bit.
Jay: Yee! Shadow buddy is gifting us for his freedom! Yummy yum!
Jack: No Jay! That's not food!
Ah! What is it!?
Oh... It's just Hawk sulking. Heh heh heh... you must be getting paranoid being so close to a forest.
Hawk: Shouldn't you be stopping your summon from eating vomit?
Wait, what? Oh gods that's right!
You unsummon Jay. Probably a good move considering what he was about to wallow in... and ingest. Ew. This is not your most glorious moment you realize as a summoner apprentice. Okay no. You take that back, you've had several not so glorious moments as a summoner apprentice. You know what? Let's forget this train of thought, it's pretty stupid.
Flying Monkey Bird Thing With Fez: Caaw caaw caaw! Well look at the two lads at the forest's edge. Why neither the two have begun to fledge! Let's cut to the formalities if it's all the same. Tell me boys, what is your name?
Okay, you're definitely not paranoid. There's a strange thing up in that tree and it talks.
The presence of rhyming animal hybrids is the first indication that an adventure is about to become one of the best collection of updates to grace the presence of the forum.
>Wait, are you asking for Jack and Hawke's names? Because they are Jack and Megan, respectively.

>After introducing yourself, ask what its name is.
or
>Consult Megan. You have no idea what that thing is, but, chances are, he might.
Dude, just joking. DON'T SAD FACE ME MANG!
Oh ho, a strange crow/raven/monkey thing that speaks in a rhyme and is interested in names. A trickster of some sort. You're far too clever to fall for a name shenanigan. That was one of the earliest lessons master taught you was to not give your name out to strange creatures. Well, my monkey-crow friend prepare to meet your match.
Jack: His name is Megan Pooplord McButtfart and my name is Lawrence Gale. Pleased to meet you, good sir.
Trickster: Caaaw caaaw caaw! Nice try but too crude! You're trying to lie but I'm too shrewd. Don't act like a petty whelp. Give me your names so I can help.
Darn it!
Hawk: I know his name.
Oh no. No no, he wouldn't.
Hawk: His name is Jack, mine's Megan.
Trickster: Very good! What a show! Tried to trick me so I wouldn't know! Lucky for me I'm very clever. I always learn what I want with no problem whatsoever.
Man, why would he do that??? Now that thing's able to do whatever it wants to you. Well Megan, hard lesson learned time, two can play this game!
Jack: Yeah? Well his name's Hawk!
There. You can be petty too if you want.
Trickster: Caw Caaaw! Very good, very good. You gave your names just like you should. Don't be mad, don't you pout. This ol' crow's going to help you out! If I scratch your back and you scratch mine, this arrangement will work out fine. Take the path and you'll find an inn. That is where your quest will begin.

>Jack: Might as well head off to that thar Inn. You've got nothing better to do.

> Just listen to the weird biological abomination request
Things like that bird are always trouble and you do like the game of chase as well. With a bellowing bark you take after it.
It's gone! Where did it go? It didn't climb the tree. You look around to see where it went.
Jack: Oh... He shouldn't go after that thing. Gremble! Here boy! Come on.
Hawk: You don't even remember it's name? Gods you're useless. Sit back and watch. It'll be fine.
Jack: Speaking of. You dick, why'd you give up my name?
Hawk: Pfft, like it wasn't going to find out in time anyways with how stupid you are. Besides that. Pooplord McButtfart? You fail at aliases forever.
Trickster: You cannot catch me for you're too slow! Are you sure running is the way to go?
Jack: Seriously, this is only going to end in trouble if we stay. Why are we not going?
Hawk: We're going to want to know the nature of this thing considering we're strapped to it now. Now relax, I want to figure out its trick.
Jack: *sigh*

> Jay: Beat your head against the wall of your sanctuary. Of all the times for him to unsummon you... OH HEY CHAOS REALM.
Jack: Consider the Trickster as a summon, threaten HAWK with Squeak so he leaves with you.
