A man stands before a bookcase located in his master's manor. He's been an apprentice for years in order to become a SUMMONER. Next week his master expects him to SUMMON FORTH his very own FAMILIAR. This really makes his ANXIETY LEVELS rise because if his familiar is not POWERFUL enough he will lose to his RIVAL APPRENTICE and get fired. He's been working tirelessly for days now RESEARCHING THE ARCANE to the point where his head feels like mush.

Taking the halberd is a great idea! The thing is probably enchanted; something that could come in handy sometime down the line. You use your SPACE-TIME POCKET WATCH to store the halberd. 1/12 slots are now filled.



A spell book? Most of these books here are spell-based but only some of them are going to be useful.

The BUNGRIF, yes you know of that creature. They are really cute, at least by appearance alone. All the horror stories you've heard about them have left you with nightmares that plague you to this day. Oh gods the things you have heard...



They're vicious, territorial beasts capable of killing even trained men with their swift speed and strength. To summon one you'd have to be a MASTER SUMMONER. This is one of the few specimens ever to successfully be brought down by anyone. Coincidentally it was your master who did this creature in. He now uses it to show off to the courtiers.



Just looking at it fills you with horror.

That's no mustachio, that's the stitching shutting this morbid thing's mouth. What is this thing even? It's obviously one of the taxidermied specimens your master has obtained but you don't recall anything about the creature. If only you had a way of finding out more information on it you'd be more comfortable with the thought on fusing it with something as dangerous as a bungrif.



Could you imagine what would happen? Even if fusion summoning wasn't ridiculously difficult, it'd still be insane mixing the unknown. That's just asking for something horrible to happen.

That is one good idea. Forget the many crystal balls that could have potentially let you see what your rival is up to, you're going to do the last thing he could have ever predicted and burn a hole in the floor. This will make you have to look up some sort of repair spell later otherwise your master is going to flay you but it'll be worth it.

This cost you a quarter of a mana point.



Look at that smug guy, reading up on some ARCANE MAGIC CIRCLE. Is that scroll filled with SUMMON RECIPES? You bet it is. Whatever sort of drink is in that over sized jug you bet it is alcoholic in nature. Focusing elixir it's probably not.



Times like these you wished you looked up some sort of voice throwing spell or something. That would have really tricked him into thinking the library was haunted. He'd get no work done then and you'd be set.

When you become a MASTER SUMMONER someday you're so going to have to do that. Beards are totally a status symbol amongst magic users. You'd look pretty spiffy.

Having trouble sleeping so my loss is your gain. Hark! An update.

Wait, if you are able to easily fix everything later, (and I mean easily. There's a jug of flammable liquid next to him) set his robe on fire, yell "FIRE!" and then attempt to put it out by peeing on it.

The combination or urine and fire upon your rival would most definitely distract him from his work. However, the idea of setting your master's library on fire and then urinating in it would probably end in you getting in horrible amounts of trouble. It'd take one heck of a repair spell to fix all that! Also, your master has expressively forbade anymore fire-urine combos anywhere on the premises after the last incident.



Let's forget that idea all together.

Ha ha! Now that's a great idea! This is what people have come to see (even if said people do not exist)! Summoning! You've got a really cool summon your master gave you. Ready for it? Annnd now!







Behold! A vermin spirit! Normally they look a little more intimidating than this but you'll take what you can get. This cost you half a mana point. This little guy is pretty handy! Vermin spirits can change their size at will and know a few spells and tricks. A perfect first tier summon for an apprentice summoner. They're smart too so you can ask the little guy for advice! Just a warning though; vermin are not always the most reliable sources of information.

Well a growing apprentice does need a variety in their diet! You're sure your spirit vermin wouldn't mind, it is a spirit after all and a vermin. Those things get eaten all the time!







Oh gods what are you trying to do to your summon?!



You've become a monster! A horrible despicable monster willing to hurt their own precious summon for power! You begin to weep for nearly going over the edge of a truly dark abyss. Your vermin watches you cry like a sissy with practiced patience.

There there, no harm no foul. You're going to need a stiff upper lip to beat your rival. In between sniffles and hiccups you ask your vermin spirit if she can do something to distract your rival to give you more of a chance. With a flutter of whiskers she sets off to cause mischief, something her kind are known for.



You really lucked out when your master made you deal with the pest problem in the cellar. She's really a great summon. Too bad you didn't have more of her kind to bring forth. It's probably for the best though, vermin breed like well... vermin.

That thing is a total mystery to you. I mean, what was it? What's the point of having this thing around? Was it your master's idea of a inappropriate gift to a niece that he left laying around? You wish you knew, then you'd be ahead of him. Unfortunately during the last fight in an attempt to keep him from summoning your WIPE spell got MIRRORED, affecting the both of you. He probably doesn't remember his own name, like you couldn't yours. You hope you remembered yours first because then you could gloat about it.
