Guys go check out the currently named YOU ARE A GIRL. The art's great and it's funny and also totally cool.
I would just like to say that you should all go look at FPMSPAstuck, which is what happens when the MSPA thread on Facepunch, another forum, decides to make an adventure, where the Admins are denizens, the players are the forum members and everything's really self indulgent. And there is eyebrow-waggling aplenty.
Unrelated, I think if my humble text adventure ever got mentioned here or got fan-art, I would explode from all the feels.
Your chumhandle is tracedSparks and you have no idea why you even have a chumhandle, as you have no chums who use Pesterchum.
You also have a text adventure that is always open to commands, LandLost.
Ed is pretty spot on, I was just about to tell all of you to do this RIGHT NOW.
IN OTHER NEWS
Herobreak is also something that I find to be pretty cool!!!

The hero (or his sidekick?from Star Salad, in a dire condition
Check this one, the text bits are quite amusing
I've been having a look at some of the Forum Adventures here, and the ones which I'm following the most (because I've got them in tabs ready to view as soon as I get an e-mail telling me of a new post) are Personastuck 4, (Which is a good version of P4 with MSPA characters, and was what inspired me to do SPERB) Kingdom Hearts: Keys To The Future (Partly because I'm somewhat of a Kingdom Hearts fan, but also thanks to the plot, which is set many years after KH3) and PersonS. (Just like Xindaris' sig says, it's like Persona... but not exactly. Although why has yet to be seen)
Unfortunally, my Art skills are really lacking, so you won't really be seeing any fanart or anything like that from me. But still, I like having a look at the fanart that's out there, but with some exceptions - I mean, there's some fanart that doesn't work well.
Anyway, I'm wondering if, in theory, one could request fanart to be made of the Forum Adventure they are working on. If that is the case, then I would like to know how one would go about doing so - not that I intend to do so, for a while at least. But if that's not the case... well, at least I would know that it's not the case. Either way, I'll just leave this here for people to think about.
The best way to do this is to post in His Scene, Her Style. Though it DOES require you to make art in exchange.

Nah, mine's not good enough for fanart. Or picturey enough.

Or, thanks to me having a look at the rules:
'If you specialize in text-only adventures, you are allowed to convert a scene into a text-only format instead, as long as you rewrite it from scratch and are as descriptive as is necessary to convey the scene without any pictures.'
So I could do that instead.
In fact, might as well do so, seeing as I've reserved a spot.

Quick doodle of Sarah Rennings from Homestesque. The best *not* Mary Sue.

Wow, what a needy attitude! How is it even remotely fanart if you ask people for it?
On top of that, the people who frequent HS,HS just to get fanart tend to be the ones who reserve repeatedly and churn out crap that technically counts just so they can have their egos stoked and bog down the thread to the point nobody wants to play. Don't be that guy, come on.

I think with fanart, it's not really a thing you can get by asking. Competitions are a good way to get it, but overall you'll get fanart if you can make characters who are interesting looking and would be fun to draw and/or characters the readers feel some amount of emotional investment in. I've actually found with fanart doing webcomics over the years that you get more in a small community situation where you have a small, tightly-knit number of people who all read each others comics in a community, then if your comic gets more popular, you'll actually get this period where you get less fanart, as your comic moves outside that community and more into the wider world where people kind of take it for granted it's appreciated because it seems to have a lot of readers, alternatively this happens when a community gets larger. I don't think I could possibly read all the fan adventures, just as I couldn't possibly read all the comics on Smackjeeves or Drunkduck, but back when those sites were new, there was a much tighter community feeling and more fanart sharing. It takes until your comic gets crazy popular to get a lot of fanart again, and even then, it depends a lot on the comic; Homestuck gets boatloads of fanart, but Problem Sleuth, even though it was a popular comic, not so much.
Homestuck has much more nuanced and emotionally complex characters and they also all have strong visual hooks as well as looking a bit less abstract than the very simple cartoon characters of Problem Sleuth. This means that they're iconic and fun to draw, anybody can draw them and it'll be clear who the drawing is meant to be and also that the readers feel attached to them emotionally and want to draw them because of that.
It'll naturally be a lot harder to get fanart for a text adventure just as it's harder to grab readers and hold their attention, because you don't have that immediate visual hook. Maybe you should collaborate with an artist to make a cool 'cover' for your adventure and/or selected illustrations for certain pages (like a light novel) that features pictures of the characters? That could help.

That's the best you can do, Ed?
And, so that this isn't entirely off topic... I've been enjoying It Seems You Are A Robot. You should all check it out.
Well, that is somewhat what I want to do, but it's finding an artist that's willing to do so (and especially without having to pay them a huge amount of cash) that's the problem.
Edit:
Not quite the type of Headcanon that I was thinking of.
Somewhat better than Ed's, but not exactly what I was thinking.

I wouldn't think that many artists here would be too expensive, even I'm relatively cheapy. Just look around for anyone with open commissions really~
But yeah, textventures are hard to get fanart for, I mean maybe there's some other odd effect where people feel compelled to draw undrawn characters but I wouldn't know because I'm a dirty plebe who can't read an adventure without art.
