I'm seriously having trouble deciding between Broadway Karkat, AmbitiousBard and WildSeraph for KK's headcanon voice. Everyone else I put on the backburner >_>; I'll figure it out later.

Okay, this is a long one.

It's fair to assume that in the pre-scratch troll universe (A1), the main trolls (Karkat, Terezi, et al.) came first and the ancestor trolls (Aranea, Meenah, et al.) descended from them. In the post-scratch troll universe (A2), the roles were flipped. The same thing happened with the humans in the B1 and B2 universes, give or take a 400-year bump for two of them.

So the main trolls are like the alpha kids: they were twelve trolls who were born and raised normally on A1 Alternia, with their birth later being overridden with an ectobiological stable time loop. The ancestor trolls were ectobiologically derived from them... somehow (probably more complicated than the straight parental mashups that are the beta kids).

The various policies present on A2 Alternia (kids constantly strifing and constructing their own hives, a whole romance system based on conflict, etc.) were probably implemented with the purpose of breeding a race of master Sgrub players, but they ultimately didn't matter, because the twelve trolls who ended up playing it weren't a product of the incestuous slurry at all. They were born from a completely different society with completely different selective pressures (not to mention probably a completely different method of reproduction; if you tell me filial pails and collection drones could arise naturally, I'll call you an idiot). Note that all twelve of the trolls are various levels of criminals and basket cases (and brains, and princesses, and athletes). None of them really fit into Alternian society because they weren't actually a product of it. They were essentially a different species thrust into an alien society. And while six sweeps of growing up in it was enough to prepare them to beat Sgrub, it did nothing to prepare them for what came after. In fact, it's probably what screwed them up so much in the first place.

I'd be willing to guess that Doc Scratch designed Alternia the way he did as a gesture to placate Her Imperious Condescension/Meenah/whatever, while ultimately still screwing her over in the end. She didn't want the A2 trolls to screw up as badly at the game as she and her friends did, so they designed a society to breed a race of perfect warrior-architects. Except it never really mattered, because the one who ended up taking her place was actually just her mom, haa haa.

Incidentally, this is probably part of why the troll's ectobiology session was skipped over (the other part is because boring, who cares): Karkat didn't try to appearify the trolls' ancestors like John did, he did it on the trolls themselves, and their ancestors came out of it.

Let's not forget the whole race had one SINGLE Mother Grub, which died during the reckoning and was among the things that pushed the Condesce to throw everything to the air and hurry back to Alternia. One single WOMB for an entire race of galactic conquerors. It's not biologically sound, nor makes any evolutionary sense - not to mention the logistics nightmare of getting the adults' genetic material to the mother planet! So no, I don't think it's natural either. Trolls probably had a different reproduction system (which the Condesce found disgusting?) which was bred out of the general population but which the ectobiologically created ones are still capable of.

I'm not sure the Condesce had any idea about Sgrub, or that she remembered anything at all about the game; rather, I think Doc Scratch merely manipulated events around her to mold her into the kind of person he needed. DD describes her as a queen with anarchist leanings; she probably didn't much care how the society was run so long as she got her gold offerings, her power to do whatever the hell she wanted, her swedish fish candy and her fish puns. She was more of a fickle goddess than a queen.

In other words I agree with this headcanon.

Mind clarifying that last statement? Most boys hit puberty at around 13. He is 14 now.

There's some kids in my year (seniors) who look like they could still be in middle school. I know a 16-year-old who looks and sounds 12...
My headcanon is that John just started puberty, so he's getting taller and lanky and kinda clumsy because of that, but his voice still sounds young/kinda squeaky/cracks a bit randomly.
(So I guess that I meant "when he starts to hit the brunt of puberty"...)

one of my S**b headcanons:

S**b (or Skaia, not sure which one I consider the controller here) is Sapient and near god-like in power. the game exists as an endless feud between it and Lord English. If anyone here has read the Animorphs series, specifically the book "The Ellimist Chronicles". the entirety of Homestuck is basically just like the Battle between Ellimist and Crayak. Neither can directly attack the other, because they are too equal in power. S**B/Skaia (similar to the Ellimist) creates a scenario in a universe in the form of the video game, in hopes that it's chosen players will progress to a point capable of defeating Lord English themselves. Lord English (similar to Crayak) attempts to stop the players and "eat" the universe before they are capable of defeating him. Lord English believes they are doomed to continue this cycle forever, which he's glad for, because if he won there would be no more universes for him to "eat". S**B / Skaia continues to believe it can defeat Lord English.

I've finally figured it out.

Terezi's voice sounds like a girl with a monotonous voice yelling really closely into a bad microphone so it sounds staticy and muted.
