Re: MSPA Voice Acting Thread 2: Electric Boogaloo!
Anyone interested in doing a few short lines as the Pesterchum client voice for a fic reading? Ideally you'll want to sound a little robotic, like those automated menus you get when calling your car insurance company or whatever. :P You'll need to be able to pronounce the kids' Pesterchum handles without tripping over them, which can be a challenge in itself, but there are only seven lines, so it's not too big a deal!
PM me if you're interested and let me know if you have an email address where I can send the script, which is saved as a Word document.

Best Karkat ever. You only should be more agressive, I think. He is too kind-toned. Maybe a little louder, too.
Hey thanks. I really appreciate that, Karkat's always sounded like a bit of a whiner in my mind, so I guess I tried to do him like that. But more agressive, I think, should be doable. I'll upload another go as soon as I have the time
Re: MSPA Voice Acting Thread 2: Electric Boogaloo!
Heh, this talk about Rocky Horror reminds me of the Science Fiction Double Feature parody I wrote that I never bothered to record. I might as well as post the lyrics, since I'm not sure if I'm doing anything with them now.
Sollux Captor was killed
The Day Alternia Stood Still
But he told us where we stand.
And Nepeta was cute
In a blue fursuit,
Aradia was the Invisible Ram.
Then something went worse
For Kanaya and Tavros.
They got caught in a gossamer jam.
Then with a deadly scream
It Came From...Underseas.
And this is how the message ran:
Chorus:
Full immersive Simulation
Peixes protos an abberation
See androids smooching Gamz and Zahhak
Captor codes up an epic hack
Glub glub honk uhhh....
In the timeless, full immersive, 'venture game
Usherette:
I knew Karkat Vantas
Was being a dumbass
When he ran that reacharound shell.
And I really did sweat
When I saw Vriska Serket
Wear a fairy dress as Pupa Pan's 'bell.
Terezi said voices
Gave her no choices
And exiling used lots of smells.
But When Landwellers die,
Said Eridan to his diamond,
"Gonna glub you a terrbluegill spell,"
Like a...
Chorus:
Full immersive Simulation
Peixes protos an abberation
See androids smooching Gamz and Zahhak
Captor codes up an epic hack
Glub glub honk uhhh....
In the timeless, full immersive, 'venture game
I wanna get
Glub uhhhhh
In the timeless, full immersive, 'venture game
By Skaianet,
Glub uhhhhh
In the timeless, full immersive, 'venture game
With a chess set,
Glub uhhhhh
In the timeless, full immersive, 'venture game!
Also, I've always had Equius as Frank and Aradia as Rocky, but that's just me.
Re: MSPA Voice Acting Thread 2: Electric Boogaloo!
New thread! So exciting guys!
I still don't really have anything (what is free time?), but as per arianadream's suggestion it's totally cool if you guys want to voice anything I wrote over in the fanfic thread. I've done a fair bit of pesterlogs, so they might be nice for voicing maybe?
(I would do it myself but that seems particularly self-serving)
Re: MSPA Voice Acting Thread 2: Electric Boogaloo!
Couldn't help but try the latest pesterlog as Rose. I tried some different things this time, to get a bit more of Rose's personality and to differentiate her from my Kanaya voice. I hope it worked.

Okay she sounds so totally offended. Which is how I saw her talking. xD
This = win.
Re: MSPA Voice Acting Thread 2: Electric Boogaloo!
Yeah, Ariana, that sounds really good! I think you pretty much nailed my image of Rose there!
Also, I was wondering about the fics you linked me, since they are basically writing what Dave is saying, do you want it to be faux-heroic, or just normal Dave?
Re: MSPA Voice Acting Thread 2: Electric Boogaloo!
Your parts are labeled as Dave, in red. They're mostly in the pesterlogs at the very end of the script. The actual story the kids are writing is narrated by the kid who wrote each part!
I hope this makes sense...?
Also, normal Dave, since he's not reading the other parts of the story.

Re: MSPA Voice Acting Thread 2: Electric Boogaloo!
So I recorded something, and thought I'd drop it off here. That's with the caveat that I don't really like a couple of the lines, namely the "hot dog" metaphor and a couple little enunciation things. That and I don't really like my microphone; lotta background noise.
That said, here:
This is mostly a trial run before I try any other voices.
That chat is here; got the idea from listening to Ariana's version of the gA track.

Awesome!
Also, those who liked the recording: Thanks!
EDIT: It is way past time I gave some critiques on recent stuff, rather than just talking about my own. :P
@Kira: I like it! You're really getting a handle on Aradia. She's a tough one to figure out, but you're really helping me develop my mental characterization of her. Also, your microphone feedback actually makes her sound more robotic. :P Win?
@Varynova: Hey, this is pretty good! Your Dave is nice, and you have good variation of tone and expression, so it's interesting to listen to. It also feels very in character. My only suggestions would be to enunciate just a little more (it gets kind of muddled in a few places) and maybe slow down at times. Especially with long passages and run-on sentences, it's really important to speak more slowly than you think you should. But this is pretty great!
@Yukai: Hey, I like your Vriska! It's nice hearing a different version of it - I love Fawn's Vriska, but it's kind of fun to hear someone else's interpretation for a change! It really works. Also, it's awesome hearing you do someone so different from Nepeta!
@This Is An Odd Name: Nice Gamzee, I really like it! He's so laid back. Also, your Karkat sounds plenty different from him, and quite good as well. Nice interaction. (Gamzee's "Honk honk honk honk" is funny, and almost cute.) Eridan sounds very Russian! Haha. So many Eridan accents, all so much fun. Your Equius is also delightful. Hahahaha, hilarious. (And disturbing.)

Thanks for the feedback-- yeah, this is what I get most commonly. "SLOW DOWN, SPEAK UP!"
And it makes a lot of sense. I'll be, when I'm able, recording a few more conversations: In terms of good ones, I was thinking these: [1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8]
But would be more than willing to do others if you've got good suggestions.
(This stuff is mostly Dave, with some John, Sollux, Tavros, Karkat, and Terezi thrown in. That's essentially the pool I want to emulate most.)
Yukai-- Much love for the Vriska. There's some part of my brain incapable of handling her in that tone, but it's still a very entertaining listen!

Re: MSPA Voice Acting Thread 2: Electric Boogaloo!
Yesss, I finally got to do some more Fefishing (word coined by Ariana)! I also re-recorded "Sea dwellers represent" after getting some feedback in the VA Critique thread, and have tried to keep in mind some of the things I've been told while recording the other two. (Also, for some reason my throat's been really phlegmy today. Bleah. So, it's been hard channeling Feferi...or ANY of my voices, for that matter. :/)
Enjoy! (Hopefully. Bleaaahhhh my voice has been terrible today )

Ohhh! Now that you mention it, I remember this! I wasn't around at the time, but when I joined the forums I skimmed through most of the VA thread and listened to a lot of the earlier recordings. I'd totally forgotten. Anyway, regardless, you do a good job, Yukai!
