    Oh man

    oh man

    THIS is cool

I have no idea how powerful this thing could be

    On one hand, 3 3/3's for 5???

On the other hand a bolt kills all 3, perhaps more if you have other golems in the deck

On the other hand a giant growth get HUGE

On the other hand, doom blade

On the other hand, I'm getting out of hand

Lightning Bolt makes it nigh-unplayable, unfortunately.

Tempered Steel helps alleviate that, and makes them bigger, but you're still really vulnerable.

It's a very cool card, though, despite its problems.

But getting three copies of Shape Anew for the price of one seems really, really, really good.

It also immediately gives you Metalcraft...

Should be great in Destructive Force decks.

Kickan: at least it's not Artifact - Myr. (is that even a thing they can do? I forget subclass naming rules sometimes)

Yeah, I like that the poison token has the Phyrexian watermark/sigil on it. So probably only the phyrexian cards will poison people. No worries. The upgraded Wither (forget the name and too lazy to look it up) is pretty hilarious though; I hope they have a blight sickle analogue for it.

It would have to be a Tribal Artifact - Myr.

You could use it with Precursor Golem to summon 5 3/3's, right? Do I understand the rules to this game?

Nope, there is no such card to have been revealed. If you're thinking of Doubling Season, that card doesn't double counters that are put on players.

    Right.

They are Poison Counters. Not tokens.

Re: Magic thread: No slivers allowed

well, if a card existed (besides doubling season) that doubled TOKENS, then I would still technically be correct.

What Fix It Jones was thinking of was Proliferate, which adds one of a counter that exists on a permanent.

I was thinking that and some other card. But yeah. As soon as I posted that I realized the whole token=/= counter

If you had a Doubling Season, with Precursor Golem...

This already sounds like some EDH shenanigans.

Re: Magic thread: No slivers allowed

man I REALLY want some precursor golems. Like I have no idea how powerful they're going to be, they're either going to be like a new broodmate dragon or completely unplayable.

  19. #169

Re: Magic thread: No slivers allowed

Unplayable in any sort of competitive game. One red mana = all your golems bite the dust. Or if you've boosted their toughness, something like a Shatter still does the trick. Or Slice in Twain, for card drawing hilarity.

Re: Magic thread: No slivers allowed

it's so simple. precursor golem + doubling season, and mistmeadow witch for bounce (to generate more tokens) and protection (although it has to be preemptive, since the spell copies are made on TARGETING, not on the spell succeeding). you could also use oblivion ring / journey to nowhere to take out the precursor itself and just get a bunch of tokens for a good price.

e: you will notice that none of these things are valid in standard.

    FUCK SPIKE JOHNNY FOR LIFE

Re: Magic thread: No slivers allowed

but you still have card advantage. For one card and 5 mana you get 9 power on 3 dudes. they HAVE to deal with it. And what if there are myr retrievers, it comes back. I dunno maybe it could work.

  22. #172

Re: Magic thread: No slivers allowed

It's not card advantage if one card can take out all your tokens, plus the original Golem, at the same time. You spent one card, they spent one card, zero sum. Unless they played Slice in Twain (cantrip Naturalize), in which case you just got fucked up bad.

Indomitable Archangel is clearly Precursor Golem's best buddy.
