Thread: Hare Force One: sending a bunny around the globe!

  1. #51

Re: I propose a forum bunny.

We would have to get the locations of all participants publicly (not specific addresses, but like city and state, general locations) and make it so that everyone ships it to someone close to them, and it'll end up either in Andrew's hands or the first person's. It should go around in a big circle!

I'm starting to like the multiple bunnies idea. In addition to that, they should be in different colored boxes to differentiate them. Also, perhaps signing the community letter along with a date to keep track of its journey?

For those of us less comfortable with giving out our address', is there anyway to get it sent somewhere local but not our homes? It's not because I don't trust you guys, it's just because anyone can see the forums.

I would think we'd give our addresses by private message or email.

Well you'd send your address to the person who currently has the bunny, and I don't think you can just pick up a box from your local Wal-Mart or something

I don't know how possible that is. P.O. boxes maybe? Addresses could be exchanged somewhere more private if nothing else.

It makes sense to say "I register for it," get put into a "bunny recipient queue" and then when you are next in line you PM it to the person who currently has the bunny to tell them your address

Here's a link to the MSPA Forum google maps project, we might need it later.

You'd PM your address to only one person- whoever has the bunny right before you.

This probably won't happen, but we need to know what to do if it does.
A backup plan would be useful, yeah. With the sock-thing I participated in, one of the recipients ultimately lost it or something and it stopped going around. Two or three bunnies could work, if I can find them for relatively cheap, but it would admittedly make the bunny a bit less special. I think if multiple bunnies are used, it should be for purposes of "in case one is lost" rather than keeping each bunny "exclusively" local, simply because it's less fun if these don't ping-pong all over the planet.

AAAAAAAAAA42, do I secretly internet know you?

Oh my god so many great ideas in this thread. They should be included in the box as instructions. What do we have so far-

    1. You may, if you wish, alter the bunny
    2. You may add in souvenirs, such as hand-made toys or fanart or a letter to the next recipient
    3. There will be a (folder? stapled bunch of paper?) containing a large group letter. Add to it as you want, but be sure to sign your name (forum name) and the date. Don't keep it, it should stay in the box so everyone can sign it. The final recipient may be Andrew Hussie himself, so if you want to write your bit for him you are encouraged to do so!
    4. The bunny you get may be for your country/continent. If you want to ship it to another country/continent but can't afford it, ask in the forums if anyone in your area can. Team work yay!

    Am I missing anything?

Some kind of inventory letter like what Jade's penpal wrote would be pretty cool, with name and date listed next to the mods or items donated.

Also, I think that the addresses would be sent by PM, so it isn't as bad as if the addresses were being posted totally publicly.

When we make the Bunny Recipient Queue, will it be based on the chronological order in which people expressed their interest, if so how far back will that go?

Maybe add something about how Andrew will end up being the final recipient? I'm pretty sure that one's been agreed on.

Noting that, I propose sharing general country/state information for the sake of organizing ourselves into who can mail where.

Also, I'm in. I live outside your silly United States of America, as my nickname might cleverly imply by its hispanic roots.
Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else's opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation.

I like the idea of signing and dating a letter for that purpose.

But yeah, I don't really want to have a second bunny because the sentiment isn't really all there.
You are quite certain that there never has and never will be a present.

We don't want to make it too inconvenient, like bouncing from New York to China to California to Japan to Israel. I don't know, I've never organized something like this.

How about we organize the list by GENERAL LOCATION. Then we send it in some direction along the globe. (west to east, east to west)

According to the map, Marelo, me and xyzzy should be grouped together in recipient order.

If those people get the bunny.

Flat rate boxes cost what, 12 or 13 dollars?

This is a great idea. My college's nerd club is way into MSPA and I'm sure we could do something wicked to whatever the "bunny" ends up being.

    Best idea:

Send it to me. Because then I add something from Japan to it while you mail to a United States mailing address! FTW.

    (Meaning I get cheaposki shipping to/from US/Japan. )

    I will check tomorrow.
