Here's an idea based on a dream I had a while ago, I don't remember if I've already posted it:

Two people are locked in a large office-ish building after it has closed. They both work there, so they have access to most rooms, but they can't get out. Somehow, a murderer has gotten in too. Their goal is to escape the building without being killed. Sort of psychological thriller-ish.

Several players are pitched against each other in mortal combat in a mall. The catch? The players cannot fight each other using objects they find in the mall OR engage in combat without an item to fight with. So how do they fight? They all have small machines that can combine two objects together into one object that has the attributes of the original objects. These are the only objects they can use or fight with. This means they cannot eat food they find or use medical kits they find either. They must combine them first. They cannot combine objects that have been made through combination.

You are a young male baker who was born years after The Empress had arrived. In the Batterwitch's world, people that hold a title in the culinary business is revered has a much higher social status than most human civilians. Every year, on 2X3 Prong Day (Veteran's Day? What the fuck is that?), the Empress holds a contest for all the young bakers in the world. Basically, each town has their amateur and up-and-coming bakers participate in a baking contest to make a cake that would impress the Empress the most. The Empress herself would come and judge the cakes. The child with the best cake practically becomes a celebrity and never has to participate in this contest bullshit again while the child with the worst cake gets culled and has his flesh and guts baked into a cake for the homeless. The Batterwitch may be an evil empress, but she cares about the homeless. Plus, who would care about such a failure for a baker? Everyone has to submit to culling one day or another.

You obviously don't want to be the loser and you have to try your best to win. But of course, that's not enough. You must go out of your way to sabotage the other contestants, which includes your girlfriend/now kismesis, a son of a Dersite baker who's a shoe-in for victory, a Batterwitch fanatic, someone in the rebellion trying to get close to the Empress, and several others who had clearly snapped from the constant terror hanging over their heads.

May or may not have been inspired by the Hunger Games. But it's a fun idea.

After centuries of hard work and research, interstellar flight has finally developed. A faster-than-light engine has been finalized, astronauts bred and trained, cryogenics work almost flawlessly, and the first major expansion of the human race is ready to begin.

The expedition sets off for a cozy and Earth-like planet orbiting with 8 others around a yellow dwarf. It has a breathable atmosphere, nice if variable climate, not too strong or weak gravity, and even signs of advanced life.

Speculation is running wild on what this planet is really like. Will the sky be pink? Do the inhabitants have two heads? Three heads? Tentacles? Do they communicate by waving their heads around in specific patterns?

After a long journey the expedition arrives, and the first mapping and preparation team lands and becomes the first to set foot on this new and alien planet. Soon they meet the much speculated on inhabitants, and find that they are... Exactly like us. Really. Down to the tiniest detail. They even launched their own expedition at the same time.

(Inspired by a lot of old sci-fi where all the aliens look almost exactly human)
