In this case, Yellowjacket is asking for help finding Janissary, so it's fine.
Plus, she knows that Yellowjacket knows that she works for the Orange Lotus, and could easily ask her not to help if he wanted to.

Quantumlaw is more of a guideline than anything, but Poetsbane is in no real danger of breaking it here.
He says, as I begin composing a suggestion involving trying to find out who YJ is, that he'd want to know about Janissary mere hours after Cairo asked. But I'd forgotten about Quantumlaw, so another angle...

    > Go for it. It rarely hurts to get people further in debt to you, and if you're in you'll get the info Cairo might want again.

I forget. Have we met Bludh0und before, or were you just trying to trick us into thinking there was only 1 new reference here?

Oh yeah. You’ve wanted that Holoprojector ever since you saw it. You take a couple minutes to make sure you have something to offer, then join the channel.

It might be best if you take the Orange Lotus. It'd at least give you control over what information you let YJ have.

That gets dangerously close to tipping your hand, though. It might be better just to set up some defenses now that you know they're coming--maybe leave something interesting just lying around, or "accidentally" less protected.

Really, though, if you know you're gonna get hacked, you
    1) want to know how they'll do it, and
    2) want to make sure nothing sensitive leaks.
So knowing when they do it, maybe even watching it go down, might be best. I'm sure you can set something up.

Depending on what the higher-ups say (and whether or not you care) even leaking what you know about Janissary might be too much. You might need a plausible-deniability gambit for the bosses, but as long as you're trading favors for favors, they probably won't do anything rash.

(Trying not to metagame here, but) Seoul, if you have any reason to suspect Octoberist or n3wt--or Yellowjacket, I suppose--were working for one of the other syndicates, you could use this as a excuse to poke at those syndicates' defenses, see if either reacts. I mean, like you, they know they're on the menu for a hack soonish, and they might get jumpy. You seem like a frosty lady when you put your mind to it, I bet you can have a far better poker face.

Eh, that’s no big deal. All you do is claim you can handle multiple groups. If anybody suspects something, Quantumlaw will protect you from them trying to investigate.

And done, with no-one the wiser.

Well, you haven’t been TOLD to investigate Janissary, but you can’t see any way knowing who Janissary is would hurt the Lotus. Plus, even though nobody else in the Lotus knows about Quantumspace, your contacts there have been a big help. The Faceless Elders have a standing policy of encouraging useful relationships, so working on a project like this is a good way to do that. Therefore, you can help out Yellowjacket AND help the Lotus, even though you haven’t been ordered to.

    You are such a rebel.

Only yellowjacket would make Fus-Ro-Da: the robot. and i bet that nobody else in the apartment gets the joke.

a quick question about Shadowsteel, what exactly does the spacial displacer do? does it work like portals or a portable hole? And i'mma gonna guess that the Thaumaturgic Control system is the fruits of the professor's research from last heist.

He's enough of one to know that when you're building a robot to house a Sonic cannon, you don't waste the opportunity. Also, the "Horns" are part of the Sonic amplification system, specifically they help focus the burst. They move in or out depending on whether he wants a tight, intense stream of sound or a wider-more dispersed effect.

As for how Yellowjacket designed the Sonic Cannon, Hivemind had been looking into the technology for some time as a potential riot control technique. However, the project was canned due to the potential for property damage (if calibrated or used wrong, it might break glass, which can be a problem in urban areas.) or personal injury lawsuits (prolonged exposure leads to inner ear damage). Yellowjacket's Headphones were modified from the prototype protective gear designed to be used by operators. The project was abandoned, but the details were in one of the many files Yellowjacket hid on external servers while preparing his escape from Hivemind. After loud music saved his life during the fight with Doctor Vendari, Yellowjacket was inspired to take another look at the technology.

The Spatial Displacer functions as a short ranged teleport. It's the result of Doctor Vendari trying to re-create the abilities of the Laughing Idol. In it's current state Humans can't survive the process.
The Thaumatergic Control System is another result of Vendari's work. It allows the Shadowsteel to move with a good deal of finesse (Without this system, it would probably fall down if it tried to walk on anything besides perfectly flat ground). It helps make up for the fact that Seoul isn't much of an engineer (She's in many ways a better Programmer than Yellowjacket, and much better than Oktoberist ,Who isn't much of a software person by Quantumspace standards, but Robots aren't really her thing.)

So yeah, that's what you get for giving Doctor Vendari to the Orange Lotus. You get Magical Teleporting Ninjabots. I hope you're happy with yourselves.

Also, the pictures don't show a scale, but the Hunter-Killers are pretty damn big. The One they Fear (In their tongue he is Robokiin, DRAGONBUILT!) and the Shadowsteel are both about human sized. When standing upright, the Hunter-Killer is probably twice that.

I bet if we gave him to Hivemind there would be magical riotbots out there instead. :P

    Oh man, robot rumble.

Has Yellowjacket already made the DOVAHKIIN, or is it still in planning stages/just partially built in the story?

    Re: Honor Amongst

Robots are more important than storytelling, you should know this!

Otherwise you'll never be great like Megaman.

Your mother didn’t teach you much. In fact, you barely saw her growing up. Occasionally she would spend a few weeks at the Farm, writing novels or hiding from the police, but Usuallly she was too busy flying around the globe, breaking hearts, cracking vaults, taunting her enemies, and astonishing the world with the daring of her heists. You got grand-père to order lots of magazines and newspapers so you could clip out all the articles about her. Only Jean Ernesto got to join her on her travels. You were so jealous of him, still are in fact.
But yeah, while you have studied her work intensely, you cannot say you learned very much from your Mother.

Your Grandfather on the other hand, taught you quite a lot. You see three exits, the front door, a few interior doors, a door to what you guess is a Balcony, and stairs going down. As for weapons, you see a golf club lying against the door. You would prefer your gun, or some grenades, but this will have to do.
They havn’t locked you up, and you heard Jean-Ernesto’s voice earlier (Well, that silly American accent he uses anyway). Still, the girl DID drug you. And with the day you’ve been having, it would be just your luck if his “Allies” decided to just turn you in for whatever rewards are being offered. You hear somebody coming out of the kitchen and get ready to ambush them.
