Start of a speedpaint, will finish at some point:
Did I ever post my painting of Casey?

Aww! Casey is looking pretty cute.
The blotches on the rabbit reminded me to ask how you do this. I'm sure you get asked a million times how you do this and that it doesn't actually involve real paint, so it must be some sort of really intricate photo editing program with a million layers or something. I could swear I see the subtle lines of actual drawing, though...

Actually, that one's a genuine watercolour! The black splotches were added digitally, though, because Andrew complained the bunny was too clean.
I should probably get some ink and add them to the original.
Wait, so you have a bunch of these in physical form that you scan in somehow?
How are you not selling these for a shit load of money??

The collector's market for paintings of bubbling salamanders is small, select, and composed entirely of poor and frankly rather perverted characters.
Well I assume you have some other HS-related work. Maybe when the series ends, you can auction off some of the pieces like the fine art they are. I'd put this stuff on my wall.

oh, hello. Finally some non-homestuck art that might not belong in the doodle thread.
This is part of a story. We'll see what happens.
anyway panel borders are my bete noir. I've mucked around with black, white, thick, thin, scratchy, smooth, and they all look like arse. This is the least arsy but still isn't fitting in right.
Have you considered something more subtle? At least in my opinion, the scratchy gray borders you tried out kind of clash with the awesome artwork, and the borderless version actually looks better. The light gray lines seem to draw attention to the borders, rather than the images within them. I'm hardly an expert in this, but I personally think all you need is maybe a bit of darkening around the panels to make them "pop out" more against the background.
Assuming you don't mind, I took the liberty of illustrating what I mean: http://foxmage.com/tynicedit.png

hmm, something like that might indeed work. Good thinking!
That... looks amazing, Id really like to see what it belongs to.
And what kazerad did improve it IMO, having some of them standing so clearly in the foreground ,gives you a good idea of the order you are supposed to look at the panels.
Im kind of embarrased at this thought, but the first thing that came to mind when I sat the bottom of that page were those point and click games where you have to pick wrenches, batteries, screwdrivers and stuff (like the submachine ones, if you know those)
ha, I've been kind of obsessed with the look of machinarium lately, so that's probably no coincidence!
speaking of, a WIP for a contest over at PA:

Oh man, I lo-lo-loved machinarium
Anyway, I noticed that thread while lurking little ago, and I really like how original are all of the ideas you guys posted there.
Looking good![]()
I like it.
I'm hoping some thumb action was going on as you typed that.
I really like your style of coloring and angling objects. :33![]()

Ahem. Dein Kunst gefallt mir sehr gut.
Trash dragon has a wonderful tone, although the dragon itself looks somewhat fragile what with the exposed wires...
some small pen and inkwash drawings, for the winners of some of my arts in the PA Solid Saints auction. (subject matter loosely by request). (also, shh! the recipients haven't seen them yet).

I must admit Im sort of confused by the second picture. Does that cat have mouth-tentacles, or has he just eaten someone's wig?
Haha, just kidding, obviously a moustache, nice stuff!
he's meant to be eating a dead bird. I didn't want to make it too gruesome.
maybe I'll add some little feet.
Bird looks kinda, clothy? Its hard to see it as a bird
Yeah, some feet would probably help.
By the way, how do you these?
fountain pen, then I usually just use some water and a small brush over the top to create the wash, although I'll add a bit of ink to the brush for the deep shadows. Sometimes I go in and erase the paper while it's still damp, like in the zombie pic, to get some rougher edges on the wash, but you've got to be careful not to come through the paper.
Also this ink is weird, it should be jet black, last night it dried green and when I looked this morning it had gone a kind of muted brown. I gotta buy some proper india ink.
Hmm, what sort of paper do you use for these? Not "normal" one right?
