The subversion of cheesy happy things into horrifying images of war and lovecraftian terrors is getting intensely lame and predictable, almost to the point where if it starts with a cheerful popculture reference, it almost certainly is going to take a dark turn as per usual "darker and grittier" fad we have nowadays. Seriously, when I saw all that stuff I wasn't even phased, it has just been so overdone. People need to start coming up with better ways to introduce horror elements, because this is getting increasingly more silly. /rant.
