I second that. It's too bad it got screwed over by the writer's strike. T-T

Personally, I've been following Heroes again, and I'm actually surprised that the quality for the fifth season is much improved over the previous ones.

I was watching an episode of Star Trek and remarked to myself that the parasites looked like fake vomit. Then I read on wikipedia:

The neural parasites were made by covering individual novelty vomits with a clear, inflatable bladder.
    Speechless.

The scary part is, I know exactly the episode you're talking about...

As a lowdown, blackhearted human being, I enjoy It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
I just started watching it this season, and my god it is like no other show I've ever seen. Danny DeVito plays the most depraved shell of a person I've ever seen, there was a guest appearance of Chloe O'Brien as a cousin of the characters named "Gail the Snail" who then had salt thrown on her, and then there's Charlie, who is illiterate and does such things as try to smoke out a hornet's nest to see if they make honey:

    Re: TV Series Thread!

So I just finished watching Star Trek: The Next Generation, Season One. It's interesting watching it because I'd sort of built up a vicarious affection for many of the characters long before I ever actually watched the show, especially thanks to Andrew and Jan.

I'm now embarking on my fourth run through Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. I seriously cannot get enough of that show.

Tréme is going to be so awesome and everyone, ever, should watch it.

I am also catching up on Caprica (which is okay) and Breaking Bad (which is excellent).

Also, anyone watch the Ricky Gervais show? It's hilarious.

Breaking Bad rules. Speaking of Bryan Cranston, I've been watching through Malcolm In The Middle and that show was better than I realized at the time it was on. Also Malcolm's mom is hot.

Bryan Cranston is the only actor I would cast as Batman.

Watched the premiere of Tréme and turns out I was totally right about it! It was awesome.

    Re: TV Series Thread!

I really like MythBusters, but I hate the way the show is edited.

    TWO MINUTE INTRO

    HERE'S WHAT THE MYTH IS

HERE'S WHAT IT IS AGAIN IN CASE YOU MISSED IT

ADAM AND JAMIE ARE DOING SOMETHING!

    HERE'S WHAT THE MYTH IS

AFTER THE BREAK: HERE'S WHAT THE MYTH IS

    HERE'S WHAT THE MYTH IS

    SOMETHING IS HAPPENING AGAIN

THE MYTH THE MYTH THE MYTH THE MYTH

It's SO redundant. It's gotta be something like seven or eight minutes of the show is wasted on redundant explanations from the narrator as if I am going to forget what the fucking show is about two minutes later. Since it's so formulaic I am going to log how many times there is a redundant explanation of the myth's premise and how much time is wasted next time I watch an episode. I would not be surprised if less than half of the show was the cast actually doing things.

I know the money shot is when things go boom or what have you and you have to build up to it, but don't build up to it by repeating the same two minutes of content over and over. Jesus.

Also I didn't like when Tory cracked his knee on a building they showed the footage like 800 times. Ok already. If that was me I wouldn't want to see that more than once.

Mythbusters is great because of the juxtaposition of genuine reality TV and horribly, horribly scripted exposition.

That's Discovery, actually. All their shows are edited like that. I guess they expect everyone to be coming in in the middle all the time or something so they tell you what you're watching in the middle constantly. They also seem to think you're always on the verge of changing the channel so when they've finished telling you what you're watching they tell you how exciting what you're about to be watching is.

Just watched the entirety of Firefly and Dollhouse, damn Whedon is good at this stuff. He does do very different series, but they are so very well written. Just prior to that worked my way through all of BtVS, before I'd started watching it I'd thought it was an idiotic star trek status quo type show, but it is not even close.
Also amazing series, Farscape, best sci-fi series of all time.

That isn't the greatest policy for a show you're going to release on DVD and not re-edit.

I understand that they're trying to make the show accessible to all ages or what have you, but it's really patronizing and just bad editing.

Deadliest Catch isn't like that. But then again, every episode of that show is the same: one boat catches a lot, one boat doesn't catch a lot, one boat has discord among its crew. Occasionally somebody dies, but never on camera.

Also, HUUUUUGE spoiler alert for the end of series twist:

    The results are in:

I counted approximately 12 minutes and 35 seconds of redundant exposition. The show in its entirety runs 43 minutes, and fills an hour timeslot on the air.

12 minutes is 29.2% of the show's 43 minutes. If we add the 17 minutes of commercials, it increases to a whopping 49.3% of the show. THAT IS NOT GOOD! That is nearly half of the show taken up by bullshit! Even if you watch it online like I do, only a little over two thirds of it is not redundant!

Disclaimer: I am hopeless at math, please correct me (if/,) I am wrong.

An unnaceptable amount of the narrator's interruptions begin with "so," or "remember,". He interrupted with redundancy more than 20 times.

SF, wow, that is rather startling.

I can imagine them needing to fill time with the simplicity of some myths.
